It's been a long time since I read SoA. But what I remember attracted me to the series, again and again, was the vibrant Other World, the "true" archetypes, and the beautiful contrasts with this world.
I have ever since longed to drive to Scotland in Simon's car, in the rain, with Water Music bathing the vehicle's occupants...
I know people like Simon. I am by turns Simon and Lewis. And occasionally Nettles.
And I want to go to that restaurant. Actually I have thought of setting up that restaurant.
SRL somehow gets inside my head. His imagination hits notes that play in my head.

yay I finally finished them all I loved the books and found it hard to put them down the only problem I had was when we went from lewis telling the story in paradise war to tegid telling the story in silver hand then back to Llew... I can see why it was done but it just made it hard for me to get into the silver hand straight after paradise war...I found after having left the silver hand for about 6 months it was a lot easier to get into it and I found it reallly easy to go from silver hand to endless knot. that may be because it all started with lewis so was easy to go back to Llew telling the story. I found the ending sad I was crying when Llew died and he didnt come back to life when everything changed to good near the end. I thought the ending was well thought out and made sense and really I couldnt see him going back I think it would upset things. anyway thats just a few thoughts.

Just browsing around and came across this. It has been a while since I read the series but I remember thinking "what if Llew went back sometime". Nothing was really stopping him from what I could tell, unless he knew that if he were to cross back over he would remain a spirit. The second biggest question I had at the time (and I could be wrong I don't have the books here to check) but I always thought it would be interesting to have a continuation regarding Llews son in the otherworld, if in fact he had one. If he indeed had a son what would the chances be that his son would become King even though line of succession didn't play in the otherworld? Things like that left me wanting another book, maybe it just hit me recently because I have finished the first 2 Celtic Crusades and it is concerning father and child. Oh well...

I always want another book. I have trouble saying goodbye to characters that I've fallen in love with. I always want it to go on and on...and on... I've thought about Llew's child. I think it would be fun to see more, but SRL said he was done. *sigh*

I read "The Serbian" hungry and it ended up pushing me over the edge...
At the end of the chapter I made couscous, greenbeans, diced potatoes and chicken. It was good, but not as good as the description of the Serbian's food on an empty stomach.
At the end of the last book, in my head I saw the possibility of Cynan and Goewyn possibly coming together to raise Llews son and maybe even becoming married. If Cynan didn't become Aird Righ after Llew's death I'm sure the child would down the line because of his upbringing.

That makes sense. Cynan did get the short end of the stick.

Hello to All! There are SPOILERS here. I Recently found SRL's website. I read audio books because I drive a semi. Much more interesting than CB radio! I find your discussion here worth the time. Some of my thoughts on SoA: 1. In TPW Lewis accuses Simon of enjoying the horrid meal in the motorway restaurant, and says that Simon loves all that he describes in his diatribe about how terrible the world is. Lewis is revealed as a truly decent person in that he understands his debt to the "people back home" who paid for him to go to Oxford. Compare this to how Simon repays his father for sending him to Oxford. Simon is attracted to Lewis in that he is trying to destroy Lewis. He keeps pulling Lewis away from his studies to accompany Simon on spurious adventures. So, the antagonism is there from the beginning. I have done a bit of research into Celtic Myth. I found much about Llew/Lugh but nothing about an arch villain. Did I miss something or is there a Celtic "Simon"? The only "bad guy" I found was The Morrigan, and she was dealt with properly in the Pendragon Cycle. 2. Why is Ireland/Erie missing? The Irish are just as Celtic as the Welch/Britons and the Scotch/Picti. Why are they not part of Albion? 3. As for Lewis returning to the "manifest world" and writing the story: The "R" in SRL stands for "Really, I'm Lewis" Seriously, I never saw a problem. It was important that Lewis came back and told the story. We in the manifest world need to hear it. And this ties into my #1: Look at the people around you. Some are willing to make the world a better place; others want to destroy. Some want to sit around and complain; others use discussion as a means to finding a way to make things better. The Song of Albion is, I think, Lawhead's way of combining Celtic thought with Christian thought. Finally, J.R.R. Tolkein is supposed to have written "The Lord of The Rings" in order to bring Britain a modern mythology. I think SRL has done him one better, by combining ancient British myth with modern thinking to produce a modern myth. Llew is no longer some ancient god like Thor or Zeus. He is a truly modern hero. (But I would agree that Lawhead would have had a difficult time getting published if J.R.R.T. had not been there first.) I am on the road most of the time. But I will check in here when I can. Hope my thoughts add to the discussion.
