I would like to learn poruguese, but it is not offered in the university! I only used a translator on one word, THAT'S what two years of spanish got me! And I can pronounce it perfectly...but otherwise I'm surprised I could translate as much as I did. I barely remember any spanish...

Hello all! . I was pretty excited when I found this forum of SRL readers. I first read the Song of Albion about three years ago, and was completely hooked on to it. The language, style, and the story gripped me! I'm re-reading TPW right now, and noticed quite a few things I had missed before. Or rather I saw more than I did before. One thing that fascinated me this time was the way Lawhead has developed the character of Lewis. At first I found him and annoying, whining twirp with nothing much to really recommend him. But experience and hard celtic living makes a man of him, and he soon becomes a man worthy of all the glory he achieves. I think Lewis has been beautifully developed... When I reached the end of the trilogy I was wholy depressed for days. Quite frankly I thought it would have been better for Llew to have died in both worlds...if he had to die. Somehow I couldn't handle the fact that after having been a great warrior king in Albion he had to come back to the manifest world and be just Lewis, the scholar again. It was later when I thought about it (a great deal) that I figured there could be a symbolic meaning to his return...a glimmer of hope for our 'real world'? Nevertheless, I still think Llew should never have had to become Lewis again...

Lewis's return, as Lewis enabled him to write the books we just finished reading, creating an Endless Knot. I think that is the purpose behind the ending of the story. I would love to learn about Llew's son in the Otherworld... perhaps have HIM cross over to see his father's world, only to find him as Lewis, not Llew and persuade him to return... I think that type of story might have potential. What do you think?

If the purpose for Llew's return to Lewis was to narrate his entire experience then how is it that Tegid is the narrator in TSH? Somehow I don't believe Lawhead had any technical purpose in mind when he returned Lewis to the manifest world.
As for there being potential for a sequel...well...I believe the SOA should be left as it is. I don't trust sequels...they always tend to spoil the effect of the first book(s). In a work of art there should always be something left to the imagination of the readers/viewers. And I believe Lawhead has done a pretty good job of it. Anything more will spoil the beauty of the most beautiful piece of work I have ever read.

You're right, for the most part, sequel's detract from the classic... but I'd hope for the same fire in the next series, if one was written.

I got pissed about the ending and never even wanted to read it then.

Uh...what were you doing reading the end without the beginning?... Some idiot put the culmination of the story in the description of the books in his website . I still might read it someday, but not anytime soon. Those types of endings irk me to no end.
