Song of Albion seems to be a general favorite. What do you think of the ending? Do you think that there was any way that Lewis could have gone back?

But I think the book states that if he were to return, he would be returned as Lewis and not Llew. I'd have to recheck on that though. I would love to see him go back and meet up with his decendants. Time passes differently and his wife was pregnant when he died, so his bloodline continues in the OtherWorld.

I would love it to continue, but at the same time, I don't want it to. It was a beautiful ending and I see it as inevitable from the choices Llew made.

The closure of the novel was easy for me to deal with. I'm sure glad Lawhead isn't like Robert Jordan, trying to cash in on a bad idea. Sticking to small series. I had to stop after book six.

Have not read this yet. So reading this thread with one eye shut and the other squinted.
Seems to be held in high regard though so may read it next.

I guess we should mark our comments with SPOILER tags. I'll be better about that in the future. But seriously, pick up that series next. It's awesome! I loved it so much, I fashioned my AD&D RPG Character after Llew.

I read the series right as it was coming out. I loved them. Everything about the story line drew me in and kept me hooked. I need to go back and reread them again.

I identified with Llew so much more than any other character Lawhead has written. Some kids want to grow up to become Superman, Batman or Spiderman.... I wanted to be Llew.

I know what you mean. Llew rocked. There were so many amazing things in that story that it is hard not to want to be in there with them.

One of my favorite parts was in book 2 where Llew stepped into the pond and came back out with the Silver Hand. It was amazing to see the way SRL grafted Llew into becoming the lifeblood of Albion.

Yes, I am always amazed at the endings SRL pulls out of the bag when all seems lost and I can't think of anything.

I had my first contact with Lawhead through the Song of Albion when I was 15 and I've been hooked ever since. I read The Paradise War right after Avalon.
Llew is one of Lawhead's two best characters (the other bering Merlin), and it's hard to forget him. I agree that the scene where he comes up from the lake in TSH is absolutely stunning.

Oh, I agree that the whole trilogy is just filled with genius scenes. One of my favorites is in The Paradise War, when Nettles takes Lewis to the Serbian's. There is something otherworldy (with a small "o") about the whole thing. Or maybe surreal would be a better word. And, in the scene where Llew banishes the Cythrawl, I remember reading that the first time and thinking "oh holy god, that's awesome." Just another point...the philosophy plug in TPW about John Scot Erugenia is great--although, I've yet to meet a philosopher that agrees with Lawhead's interpretation. Oh well, maybe that'll be the first thing I do with a master's degree .

I remember getting very upset when he died... I was like, "Why did you kill him!" But then I finished it and was pleasently surprised....
