He's largely why I write first person... my English teachers always gave me bad marks for first person narrative, but it was the most comfortable to me. My third person comes across very wooden (at least in my estimation).
I started reading Lawhead and saw that it is, in fact, not taboo to write first person in the real world.

I like writing in the first-person as well. I have a black book in which I have written several short stories in several different styles. I might post one later

Please, most of the best writing is first-person; Poe made it into and artform. The idea of creating a persona to experience a situation is great (all authors do that to an extent), but only with first-person narration do you get to let the reader experience life as that character. I prefer it.

Completely. The Farseer Trilogy, ASoIaF, and of course SoA are all beautiful examples, just in the fantasy genre. So far I've written only short stories in first person, but it's a great form of expression. I'm debating on whether to use it in one of my next projects.
There were two things I really loved about the first person in Albion. The first was, of course, that the first person from a blind POV was just amazing. The other was the end; since it was from Llew's perspective...it was a very surprising end.

just by simple curiosity, Song Of Albion in portuguese is:
O cântico de Albion.
Part I - A guerra do Paraíso; Part II - A mão de prata; Part III - O Nó interminável.
