I think my second was Arthur... Byzantium came a little further down the track (it was published late nineties or something? I think I had already devoured Song of Albion, Dream Thief, Merlin, Taliesin and the Dragon King Saga by then...). Probably of the listed potential films, I'd have to go with the Pendragon Cycle. Its the story by which all other modern athurian attempts are measured, in my book

I would definately be in favor of seeing SoA on the big screen before the others.

I think SoA would be better as an animated film and to see the Pendragon Cycle turned into something along the lines of LotR... but I'd like it if Peter Jackson didn't direct it ><

Since SRL's sales figures are not in the range of a Tolkien or Harry Potter, it's hard to see one of the series getting a first shot. That's part of my reason for choosing Patrick.
It's a very original treatment, with the capability of appealing to a broad range of people. Byzantium meets many of the same criteria, but doesn't have the name recognition of Paddy.

I personally would think that an animated film for SOA would be a flop. I do believe that a film is not the best way of promoting a book series, and I really believe that books mature overtime. Of course, some books are just good and are loved from beginning to end. A book like Cycle or SOA I think has to permeate a culture or people before it can become a successful and full scale movie. No one is going to pay big bucks for a movie no one will watch.

If Lawhead made a movie. . . it would have to be SOA or CC. What is up with no one liking the Celtic Crusades? Such an awesome action packed trilogy. However the change in time that happens in between the books would be hard to portray which is why I chose SOA. The biggest problem for these movies to take place would be money. To make a good movie out of the book, that doesn't ruin to much (cause obviously something is going to be ruined w/e) of the story is going to be expensive. So when you need money, you need backers and backers don't back something unless they think it will succeed. So maybe the best solution would be to make a movie out of Patrick or Byzantium FIRST. Then try out a the SOA trilogy after everyone gets hyped. I really hope a movie does get made cause man that would be cool!

I would like to say that I loved his Celcit Crusades books but making movies from that time period probably wouldn't be politically correct in the current times so it is unlikely to move forward. I'm not a big fan of political correctness but I can just imagine how many people will get upset over how different groups are portrayed.

I still think SoA would be awesome animated instead of real live actors. And I don't think a book series has to age a bit in the culture for it to be popular. It's just I think that people get so caught up in that good literature is written by authors who are now dead that they miss some real quality writings. For instance, not to say I'm a fan because I'm not, Harry Potter, as a series of books has only been out for a short while but several multi million dollar movies have been done thus far.

Amen and Amen.
Personaly I would like both, especially if SoA was made like the Harry Potter Movies/ The recent Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Pendragon Cycle (at least Taliesin, Merlin and Arthur) was made into an epic like the recent King Arthur/LoTR's.

I'm not a big fan of political correctness but I can just imagine how many people will get upset over how different groups are portrayed. No doubt. When Chicago is afraid of offending non-Christians for allowing the advertising of a movie...unbelievable...such is the world in which we live. One giant sensitivity training session for the civilized world, while those who don't subscribe to peaceful society blow everyone else to pieces. But, ahem, don't mean to sidetrack the thread. I've already played the Pendragon Cycle Movie in my mind many times! ;D

I agree that PC would make a great movie series, but SOA have a distinct uniqueness that would make it a classic series.
