s'alright, Calixar....no worries....if a thread gets derailed, i'd rather it be about joking or something.....nothing too controversial.....anyways, Eyes of the Dragon was pretty good....King wrote it for his daughter because she wanted him to write something she could read......i believe she was 12 or so at the time......that's why there's really no crude or disgusting language or scenes. But there is a far-too-detailed description of that one guard's booger. That was the only time in my life a piece of fiction made me lose my appetite. ;D

yeah....but if you think about it....he was writing for a 12 year old.....boogers are funny and gross.....it was a perfect fit with the child-like theme of the book.

I guess... Other than the first (roughly) half of The Stand my only other King has been The Talisman... oh... and an audio thing by him I had years back. I forget what the name was... like, "Weeds" or something. It was completely forgettable.

i am an absolute fanatic of stephen king. I started reading his books around last summer starting with the Dark Tower Series. I read them all quickly and went on to his other books. And i found them amazing and were better written. The Dark Tower series certainly had its low points. However, it is still my favorite because of its amazing plot. Every book King wrote has its own place in it. It truly is mind blowing.

Do you know the audio thing I'm talking about. It was around 10 years ago... something he supposedly wrote just for this audio-book... it was advertised as being in "3-D Sound" or somesuch.
I don't remember much except that after two listens I gave it away.

"IT" is my all time favorite King novel. I found it on fireguard duty in Basic training in the army and started reading at 1 AM with no one else awake. I re-read it just recently because I am working on a novel that involves flashbacks and remembered that he weaves modern day timelines with the 1958 story line so well. It is the best 'monster under the bed read I have ever encountered.

"monster under the bed".....hmmmm.....you know, i never thought of it like that.....but that's a really good way of putting it.....i always had the "cosmic evil vs a bunch of kids" picture in my mind.

Oh, yeah. Think about it from a kid's point of view in late 1950's, before the graphic gore was in every monster movie. He gets so into the character developement that it was all I could think of when reading it. Those kids knew nothing of 'Cosmic evil' all they knew was they were scared spitless and their parents would never believe them. "IT" could be anything it wanted, just like the imagination makes the monster under bed. All I knew when I was a kid was that if I was covered with the blankets I would be okay. That all came back to me as an adult...as did this event: As an aside that could go on the most embarassing moment thread...my mom was one of those save the electricity buffs when I was little so every room was dim...always. She sent me upstairs alone once at Christmas to get something. I ran as fast as I could up the stairs, to the bedroom door...where I twitched, screamed and bolted back downstairs. A hideous face was leering at me from the bedroom and it was more than I could bear. It turned out to be a Christmas mouse in a wreath cardboard cutout tacked to the door! Michael

HAHAHA!!!....oh, sorry.....that must have been traumatic....*snicker*....very bad memories...*chuckle*......kidding ....anyways, i've been into King's works for some time now and i've read almost all of them.....and the way he works almost all of them into the DT series just amazes me.

It was very traumatic. And funny to look back at so I'll forgive the snickering...
Only read the first couple of DT books. Didn't really get into them. Don't know why.
I assume 'Bob Gray' comes into it somewhere. That name was in IT and dreamcatcher but I don't recall it anywhere else.
