January 30 -- Evening It is good for a man to bear the yoke in his youth. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. We have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word. It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. -- Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. (Lamentations 3:27. Proverbs 22:6. Hebrews 12:9-10. Psalm 119:67,71. Jeremiah 29:11 -- 1 Peter 5:6.)

January 31 -- Morning If you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, ... those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell. Fight the good fight of faith. -- The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and ... bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. The flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. -- I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. -- We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Numbers 33:55. 1 Timothy 6:12 -- 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. Romans 8:12-13. Galatians 5:17 -- Romans 7:23 -- Romans 8:37.)

January 31 -- Evening If a man sins against the LORD, who will intercede for him? If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. -- Whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. He is gracious to him, and says, "Deliver him from going down to the Pit; I have found a ransom." What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. (1 Samuel 2:25. 1 John 2:1-2 -- Romans 3:25-26. Job 33:24. Romans 8:31,33-34.)

February 1 -- Morning Whom having not seen, you love. We walk by faith, not by sight. -- We love Him because He first loved us. -- And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. -- In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. -- God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." -- Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. (1 Peter 1:8. 2 Corinthians 5:7 -- 1 John 4:19 -- 1 John 4:16 -- Ephesians 1:13 -- Colossians 1:27. 1 John 4:20. John 20:29 -- Psalm 2:12.)

February 1 -- Evening THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. We are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags. I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. -- I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Bring out the best robe and put it on him. -- To her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints. I ... count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, ... that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith. (Jeremiah 23:6. Isaiah 64:6. Psalm 71:16 -- Isaiah 61:10. Luke 15:22 -- Revelation 19:8. Philippians 3:8-9.)

February 2 -- Morning That You would keep me from evil! Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation. -- The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Two things I request of You (Deprive me not before I die): Remove falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches - Feed me with the food allotted to me; lest I be full and deny You, and say, "Who is the LORD?" or lest I be poor and steal, and profane the name of my God. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. -- I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible. -- He who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. -- The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations. (1 Chronicles 4:10. Luke 22:46 -- Matthew 26:41. Proverbs 30:7-9. Psalm 121:7 -- Jeremiah 15:21 -- 1 John 5:18. Revelation 3:10 -- 2 Peter 2:9.)

February 2 -- Evening One star differs from another star in glory. On the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest. And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, "If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all." -- Be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who ... made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. (1 Corinthians 15:41. Mark 9:34-35 -- 1 Peter 5:5-6. Philippians 2:5-7,9-10. Daniel 12:3.)

February 3 -- Morning "Be strong ... and work; for I am with you," says the LORD of hosts. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. -- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -- Strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. -- The joy of the LORD is your strength. Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Let your hands be strong, you who have been hearing in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets." -- Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, "Be strong, do not fear!" -- The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours." If God is for us, who can be against us? -- Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. -- Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Haggai 2:4. John 15:5 -- Philippians 4:13 -- Ephesians 6:10 -- Nehemiah 8:10. Zechariah 8:9 -- Isaiah 35:3-4 -- Judges 6:14. Romans 8:31 -- 2 Corinthians 4:1. Galatians 6:9 -- 1 Corinthians 15:57.)

February 3 -- Evening The darkness shall not hide from You. His eyes are on the ways of man, and He sees all his steps. There is no darkness nor shadow of death where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. -- "Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him? ... Do I not fill heaven and earth?" says the LORD. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night ... nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. -- He who keeps you will not slumber. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve you from all evil. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me. (Psalm 139:12. Job 34:21-22 -- Jeremiah 23:24. Psalm 91:5-6,9-10 -- Psalm 121:3,5-7. Psalm 23:4.)

February 4 -- Morning The LORD has said to you, "You shall not return that way again." Truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt. -- "The just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him." But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. -- No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. -- Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Deuteronomy 17:16. Hebrews 11:15-16,25-26 -- Hebrews 10:38-39 -- Luke 9:62. Galatians 6:14 -- 2 Corinthians 6:17. Philippians 1:6.)

February 4 -- Evening They talk to the grief of those whom You have wounded. I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction. Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. He who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. -- Comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. Let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother's way. -- We ... who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Love ... does not rejoice in iniquity. -- Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. (Psalm 69:26. Zechariah 1:15. Galatians 6:1. James 5:20 -- 1 Thessalonians 5:14. Romans 14:13 -- Romans 15:1. 1 Corinthians 13:4,6 -- 1 Corinthians 10:12.)

February 5 -- Morning I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. In the day that you eat of it you shall surely die. -- She took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -- If by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. -- Since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. -- Our Savior Jesus Christ ... has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. -- For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 10:10. Genesis 2:17 -- Genesis 3:6. Romans 6:23 -- Romans 5:17 -- 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 -- 2 Timothy 1:10. 1 John 5:11-12 -- John 3:17.)

February 5 -- Evening The judgment seat. We know that the judgment of God is according to truth. -- When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. -- Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. -- There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. We are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world. (2 Corinthians 5:10. Romans 2:2 -- Matthew 25:31-32. Matthew 13:43 -- Romans 8:33-34 -- Romans 8:1. 1 Corinthians 11:32.)

February 6 -- Morning The grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. -- Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more. That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. -- Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. -- According to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior. (1 Timothy 1:14. 2 Corinthians 8:9 -- Romans 5:20. Ephesians 2:7-9 -- Galatians 2:16 -- Titus 3:5-6.)

February 6 -- Evening I am ... the Bright and Morning Star. A Star shall come out of Jacob. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. -- Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag upon the mountains of Bether. "Watchman, what of the night?" The watchman said, "The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire; return! Come back!" I am the light of the world. -- I will give him the morning star. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, ... lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch! (Revelation 22:16. Numbers 24:17. Romans 13:12 -- Song of Songs 2:17. Isaiah 21:11-12. John 8:12 -- Revelation 2:28. Mark 13:33-37.)
