January 23 -- Morning

Hope does not disappoint.

I am the LORD; ...they shall not be ashamed who wait for Me. -- Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. -- You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, for in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength. -- My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. -- I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed.

God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus.

January 23 -- Evening

The offense of the cross.

If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. -- We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.

Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. -- Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone, and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.

God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. -- I have been crucified with Christ. -- Those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.

January 24 -- Morning

The Lord is at hand.

The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. -- He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless. -- Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

January 24 -- Evening

The choice vine.

My Well-beloved has a vineyard on a very fruitful hill. He dug it up and cleared out its stones, and planted it with the choicest vine. So He expected it to bring forth good grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes. -- Yet I had planted you a noble vine, a seed of highest quality. How then have you turned before Me into the degenerate plant of an alien vine?

The works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, ... envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; ... But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Abide in Me, and I in you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

January 25 -- Morning

The righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. -- Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. -- Who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. -- Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.

I ... count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.

January 25 -- Evening

The Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."

Jesus ... lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, ... Holy Father, ... O righteous Father!" -- He said, "Abba, Father." -- Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" -- For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

Doubtless You are our Father. You, O LORD, are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.

"I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.'" And he arose and came to his father.

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

January 26 -- Morning

Let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. -- As you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.

If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

They departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. -- Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

January 26 -- Evening

The Lord Jesus Christ ... will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body.

On the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it. Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around. ... This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.

We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. -- It has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore. -- They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb.

You know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

God ... has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, ... who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. -- He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, ... but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you -- The love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life.

"For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!"

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

That servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -- He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. -- Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

January 28 -- Morning

As your days, so shall your strength be.

When they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. -- Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

The God of Israel is He who gives strength and power to His people. Blessed be God! -- He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. -- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -- O my soul, march on in strength!

Awake, O north wind, and ... blow upon my garden, that its spices may flow out.

No chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. -- The fruit of the Spirit.

He removes it by His rough wind In the day of the east wind.

As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear Him.

Though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.

Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. -- In all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

January 29 -- Morning

You are a God who sees.

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.

The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. -- The ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He ponders all his paths. -- God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God. -- The eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

Jesus ... knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man. -- Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.

January 29 -- Evening

I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore.

Whoever offers praise glorifies Me. -- It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

I beseech you, ... brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. -- Jesus, ... that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. -- Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing!

Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. -- Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. -- Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness.

Everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. -- Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. -- So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.
