Just thought i would share the news with you all. Apparently Steve's new books are about the celtic legend of Robin Hood. I found this out via Jeff Johnson (and for those of you who don't know him, you better look him up fast....great tunes). The first of the books is supposed to be hitting the stores within a year...maybe as early as this fall. Your thoughts?

Boo-ya!! *punchs the air* Seriously, that was my reaction when I read that. I enjoy Arthurian legend, but Robin Hood stories are, and always will be, my first love. I used to play Robin Hood when I was little. I can't wait to read SRL's take on the legend. ;D

My problem with this news is that Robin Hood is about as Celitc as your average hampster. Robin Hood is a Saxon, one of the last of the Saxon nobility holding out against the Norman-French imports.
Although, if SRL can provide me with some historical evidence to the contrary, I'll be glad to be open minded.

I don't care if he calls it "Robin Hood - Book 3 of Empyrion"! Call him a Celt, Saxon, Martian - who cares! To have an SRL literary work of the most storied character of feudalism is something to look forward to. Dinadan - always the skeptic. ;D

Of course I'm always the skeptic - I'm even skeptical about my skepticism.

My problem with this news is that Robin Hood is about as Celitc as your average hampster. We need a more expressive list of emoticons.... I can't find one that accurately shows my reaction to that comment.... And I agree. Robin should not be Celtic. Besides, if the Celticism in Patrick seems threadbare, it makes one rather fearful. Still, I look forward very much to it. Should prove interesting. By the way, I suppose I get a kewpie doll now?

ok, so perhaps the celtic part is a misnomer (im sure i didn't use that word properly, but i don't care today). i'm just passing on what i know, though i agree that robin hood hardly seems celtic, but we'll have to wait and see. woohoo!!!

Yeah... the only thing Celtic about Robin Hood is the longbow... a weapon used by ancient Celts and co-opted by the English later. I wonder if he'll have De Senlis in there... I found this out via Jeff Johnson . Do you know Jeff or was it on his site?

my connection to J. Johnson is thus: my dad is friends with him. and my entire family (excluding my sister and a few rogue brothers) are huge fans of SRL (that leaves about 7and anxiously await any news from him regarding his work. my dad became friends with Johnson a couple years ago when he started picking up his music...and voila.

Who cares if SRL writes about a Celtic Robin Hood? The original is an Anglo-Saxon with a Norman French name.
