Read Chapter 1 > here <. Synopsis ( Westbow) As the story of King Raven continues, the stakes grow ever higher and the lives of Bran's band hang ever more in the balance. Will Scarlet is about to be hung and Bran discovers a secret that leads them to a desperate sea voyage to France through a vicious storm in a daring attempt to reveal the plot against King William by his brother, Duke Robert, and the greedy Baron de Braose. Will Bran's loyalty re-gain him the throne of Elfael? Or will his efforts only increase the sheriff's determination to destroy King Raven? ( Thomas Nelson (Publisher)) After losing everything he owns, forester Will Scarlet embarks on a search for none other than King Raven, whose exploits have already become legendary. After fulfilling his quest--and proving himself a skilled and loyal companion--Will joins the heroic archer and his men. Now, however, Will is in prison for a crime he did not commit. His sentence is death by hanging--unless he delivers King Raven and his band of cohorts. That, of course, he will never do. Wales is slowly falling under the control of the invading Normans, and King William the Red has given his ruthless barons control of the land. In desperation, the people turn to King Raven and his men for justice and survival in the face of the ever-growing onslaught. From deep in the forest they form a daring plan for deliverance, knowing that failure means death for them all. Scarlet continues Stephen R. Lawhead's riveting saga that began with the novel Hood, which relocated the legend of Robin Hood to the Welsh countryside and its dark forests. Steeped in Celtic mythology and the political intrigue of medival Britain, Lawhead's trilogy conjures up an ancient past and holds a mirror to contemporary realities. Prepare for an epic tale that dares to shatter everything you thought you knew about Robin Hood. ( Amazon.co.uk) From his gaol cell, outlaw Will Scatlocke waits to be hanged. Before he swings, Will -- known to his friends as Scarlet -- dictates his story to Odo, a duplicitous monk who has been given the job of recording his confession. Odo serves the ambitions of Abbot Hugo, who is gathering evidence that will lead to the capture of the men who have plagued the aristocracy and robbed the church of treasure. Hugo seeks the destruction of the elusive King Raven and his band, the Grellon. Driven from his home in the north of England, Will has trekked to Wales to join his fortunes with that of the man whose reputation is growing throughout Britain. A forester skilled with the longbow, Will is soon part of Bran ap Brychan's inner circle. In a failed attempt to kidnap sheriff Richard de Glanville, Will is captured. With rumours of conspiracy deepening at court, the humble prisoner becomes a vital link to the outlaws who abandoned him -- and on whose loyalty their lives depend -- and the throne of England. ( Christianbook.com) The riveting second installment in a completely re-imagined epic of the man known as Robin Hood! Eerie, earthy, and elemental, Lawhead's sequel to Hood continues the story of King Raven and Bran's faithful band, whose lives hang ever more in the balance as they make a desperate sea voyage to France. ( SRL) Scarlet, the second book in the King Raven series, where life in the greenwood gets increasingly dodgy. It's bigger, bolder, and badder in every way, and all told from Will Scarlet's unique point of view. Available now. I am wondering if the character of Alan A Dale will be appearing in the King Raven Trilogy in some fashion. He is my favorite of the 'Merry Men'. Bards have tended to play a big role throughout Mr. Lawheads books and I'm hoping Alan will at least pop up somewhere in this story.

What about the unabridged audiobook? No pre-orders yet? Anyone have an ISBN?

It's a bit early for that. In case Oasis Audio is the one doing it, they're just now announcing May and June releases.

I spoke with Oasis Audio today (they did Hood) and the lady I spoke with (Maury) said there was nothing on the books yet about an official release date for the audiobook version. She said that it only takes about 6 weeks to produce an audio book like that, so it was not unusual to not have anything at this time... So FYI... Also, I asked about MP3 CDs and how they make decisions on which books are available in MP3 CD format and which are not, and she said she did not know this... So, there would be no way of knowing if Scarlet will be made available on MP3 CD (and less expensive) or not... Food for thought...

Fantastic! I can't wait for this to come out so I have something new to read. Well, other than the 130 odd books still sitting on my shelf. But Scarlet will definately jump to the top of the list.

Oh, that's luxury! 130 books just waiting to be read (for the first time?)! I'm thrilled if I manage to have four or five on hand.
Scarlett will definitely become one of them.

The audiobook has now been listed at Amazon, Christianbook.com, Amazon Canada, and Koorong Australia, though not yet at OasisAudio.com The first three sites are listing a release date of August 3 for the CDs, slightly earlier than the UK release of the printed book. It will be in regular audio CD format, not mp3.

Oh, that's luxury! 130 books just waiting to be read (for the first time?)! I'm thrilled if I manage to have four or five on hand. Yep, I've never read them. People insist on buying me books and so they just sort of accumulate, and then I'll find interesting looking books at used book stores, and who can say no to that? I just need for my relatives and friends to hold off on the book-buying for about 3 years so I have a chance to catch up. I'd be happy to get Scarlet from somebody though. ;D

lmao
You only want the books that interest you up front to be given as gifts and whatnot.
I'm impressed if you have that many books yet to read and figure you can read them all in 3 years. That's a significant amount of reading.

Oh and be careful when asking for the book from people. When Hood came out, everyone knew i wanted the book REALLY badly so they just assumed that someone else had got it for me... i didnt get it from anyone
