I have found that I do not enjoy the completely computer generated animation that is so popular today. I'd rather see a 2-d cartoon adventure than some mock 3-d cgi stuff. To my mind, there is just no comparison to be made between a great, well-made cartoon and something that has been made cg; sure, cg is impressive, and has allowed a lot of things (like Gollum) to look super-realistic. But, movies made entirely cg just seem....wrong somehow. Or, at the very least, outside of my tastes. I can understand and accept that. Ever see Spirit? That was a hybrid of cg and traditional cartoon. Ignoring the actual movie itself *yawn*, did the graphics do anything for you? BTW, what do you consider a "well-made cartoon" - your preference is the Smurfs, Aladdin, Pokemon? (Quick story behind Spirit - I have a daughter who, of course, loves horses. Had a tonsilectomy and adnoidectomy <sp?> when she was 3. Nothing but popsicles and the movie Spirit for 6 days....so yeah, I ran out of needles for my eyeballs after about the 12th showing...)

No, I never saw Spirit. Cartoons that I have enjoyed in the past (not limited to motion pictures): Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Black Cauldron, Voltron, Thundercats--pretty much all the late 80s early 90s stuff.
Also, I'm sorry for your 6 days of the same movie--after 12 viewings in a row, any movie would get old.

Despite your graphics prejudic, don't tell me you didn't like Toy Story and the Incredibles . Those are my favorite animated disney movies! Perhaps Tarzan, as well...

Haven't seen The Incredibles, but I did see Toy Story. and yes, I didn't like it. Wow. That is fascinating. I didn't know one could place such a stigma on a visual representation. I am entirely intrigued by that. You should catch a portion of Spirit sometime - most of the character and foreground is standard cartoon sketch, but a lot of the background and "camera" mobility is done through cg. I would be interested to know your reaction. Everyone else who enjoys animation: The Incredibles has a way of growing on you. I always catch bits and pieces when my daughter is watching it and it seems more humorous now than the first time I saw it. (The DVD extra has Jack-Jack Attack, which is hilarious.)

I love most of the animated films I've seen. There are some that just haven't really tripped my trigger but all in all they are great.
I really enjoyed Ice Age. The opening sequence with that, squirrel or chipmunk and the nut is brilliant.
I go to movies more for the enjoyment of seeing a film and less for analyzing the way everything is done. Not to say that I haven't critiqued a movie but generally I don't go to a movie unless I'm really interested in just enjoying myself.

Oooh, and I love bill and ted's excellent adventure. .. It is one movie where Keanu Reeves(spelling?) does a character that has some emotion.

My wife just bought me SpaceBalls. I forgot how hilarious that movie is. Nothing like a well-done satire.
