I'm right there with you, Inkling. I finished it LATE Sunday night the day after it was released. Need to go back and read it again, slower this time. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. All through reading this book I was hoping that what happened would not happen and it did anyway. I never thought she would do it. However, I can sort of see why. Harry has to grow up. I really can't wait until the next book but I'll be content with the HP4 movie coming out November 16th. Goodness knows it's got to be better than the horrid HP3 movie, IMO. HP4 has dragons in it! What more could you ask for? Lions? Oh well....you'll have to wait until December 9th for the TLTW&TW. There is one really awesome lion in that one by the name of Aslan. WOO HOO!!!! Can't wait! ~Sarah

Neither can I! There are some seriously good-looking movies coming out this year. Though I think I'd rather have book Seven than any amount of movies...

I am eagerly awaiting HP7. Every now and then, dinadan deserves to have a bone thrown his way. Here's one: Don't wait for it to come out! Write it yourself today! ... with a little help from other fans. A wiki-style Harry Potter and the Seventh Book allows contributors to add to an ongoing story or edit the work of others who have already toiled over it. Users do not need to register and can remain anonymous. Site starters Carl Thorpe and Jeff Stumpo note that J.K. Rowling and her publishers have no connection with the site, and the duo will make no money from it. However, the two do plan to study what the public writes.

I just finished reading this book... (Yes, I know, it's been out for a while.... I haven't read anything for nearly 2 years while I worked on my story.) Anyway, I had some issues in the book: Why did Dumbledore have to drink the liquid? Once it was in the goblet, he could have simply poured it out, right?
Did Harry ever go back for the HBP's potions book?
I compare Dumbledore's death to that of Obi Wan Kenobe when Darth Vade cuts him down... What if Dumbledore created his own Horticrux?
What if Harry is one of Voldimort's Horticrux? He doesn't want anyone to kill Harry, but himself... perhaps that's why "a part of Voldimort" ended up in Harry... the lightning bolt scar... And that would also explain why one can't live, while the other survives. Their souls are connected somehow....
Anyway, just some thoughts.

What if Dumbledore created his own Horticrux?
The Horcrux was considered to be completely evil, as evidenced by the one book that contained a reference to it.

And that would also explain why one can't live, while the other survives. Their souls are connected somehow....
Voldemort was planning to use Harry's murder to create the last one.

I reread HBP this weekend, oddly enough, and the Harry-Horcrux thing occurred to me. I don't think it's possible, though, because someone has to actually die for the spell to work. But I think CoI's right that it would explain how Voldemort transferred some of his powers to Harry. As for the potion...I imagine there'd be a spell on the liquid so that it has to be actually drank or the bowl will fill back up or something.

That's the part that bothers me... someone got there before them and exchanged the necklace... there had to be another way to do it... how would the water fill back up after the necklace was replaced? Was the water from the lake surrounding the island?

It was a potion he concocted, because Dumbledore wanted water after drinking it.
It probably refilled itself or was magically refilled by the thief after the theft, unless you subscribe to my theory, which believes the note is made by Voldemort and the Horcrux is a real Horcrux.

I would guess a year or two. Probably in time for the next movie.
