Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Anyone have special plans, stories or pictures to share? (And if you do not live in America, please tell us what November events your country has going on...or maybe let us know how nonsensical we look celebrating this particularly peculiar tradition. )

Well... Dawn, Cameron and I are heading back to Illinois on my company's dime. I have to work 3rd shift a couple of days before Thanksgiving, but other than that, they pay for our car, gas, hotel and my food to travel, plus I get an extra week of vacation. That's definately something to be thankful for.

I'm going to make low-fat, sugar-free pumkin pie (I hope it turns out!) I might be in charge of the turkey too. mmm We'll see. It will be the usual family get-together, along with anyone who gets invited.

Thanksgiving in our family involves going to Dan's parents on Wed night and spending the night with them and having a Thanksgiving breakfast. Then we go on to my aunt's house to spend the day with my aunts and dear Granna. (only problem, the aunts think that dessert is real with no fat and no sugar. BLLEHH!! I may actually make a real dessert and take it just so that they could try something with actual taste to it. I mean, cheesecake with no fat or sugar is NOT cheesecake. Cardboard would probably taste better.) But it is good to see my granna.

Heheeee! I intend to invest ample spices so as to disguise the no-sugar thing. In regards to the low fat part, I think we're going with low-fat evaporated milk. Who knows how healthy it actually is...?
Teach them the joys of your caramel cake!

Dreamer's already given our plans. But I'd like to take this opportunity to say that Thanksgiving is one of the last true holidays left. It is not too much over-advertised, over-decorated, over-toyed, over-candied, or over-ridiculoused. What is it about? It is about be thankful, family, friends, and food. What could be better?

Amen to this! Usually my Grandma does the cooking, but this year my mom is stepping up and taking over the Turkey and the stuffing. And the sides. And everything. And that's okay, because people all over the world (literally!) recognize my mom as a culinary genius.

We cheat and eat out. No long cooking day, no dishes! The only downside is, no leftovers. But then again, less to tempt you to over eat for a week. As far as fat free, sugar free stuff....My best friend and her sister did Thanksgiving last year and it was all "good for you" stuff. Fake pumpkin pie, organic turkey, mashed boiled cauliflower instead of potatoes I think that was when they were in the "all raw foods" phase--every month it's something different with her--soy is good, soy is bad, food should be raw, no carbs, lots of carbs. Whatever. My only response is...IT'S A FEAST!!!! Except for those whose health is so compromised that a little real food would jeapardize their lives, come on people!! If you're gonna eat it make it GOOD! What's the point of a feast if you can barely gag it down? Anyway we're going to Mitzel's this year.

My Thanksgiving involves working third shift Wednesday night and Thursday night, and probably fitting in dinner at the in-laws before my shift Thursday night. It also means over then next two weeks trying to come up with excuses as to why I can't attend my parents' Thanksgiving dinner...those of you who actually get along with your family, be thankful for that. It sucks to loathe any type of get together with your family. Also, NFL Network has the Thanksgiving day football games this year. AHHHH! That means I will probably miss them, as my cable company doesn't carry NFL Network. Unless I go out to Damon's or something, but I must get some sleep if I'm going to work that night... Wow. I just realized my Thanksgiving is pretty much going to be awful. LOL. At least I get Christmas and New Years off this year!

Didn't mean to put a downer on this thread. Nothing like squashing your own topic. Anyway, I should have a good time at the in-laws (seriously...I like my in-laws!) so I'll have some good food and fun with family. And I'll be happy for Kgoods that he isn't in the swamp or the desert this year!

My family's driving down to North Carolina for a big get together with some of my mom's family who apparently own a lodge up in the mountains. We also might visit my dad's brother and his family while we're down there.

oh, well my grandpoarents aren't coming this year. My grandfather had a stroke several years back which left him half blind in each eye, so he needs caring after, and my Grandmother fell and hurt her hand pretty seriously. So they aren't up fpr the trip. Oh, well they are still alive but they need to come to know Jesus. If yall dont mind pray for them. Anyway, I still have alot to be thankful for. So GOd bless and Gobble Gobble Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

It happens all the time... We had our company's Thanksgiving dinner yesterday... good stuff...ing. And we raised some keesh for a poverty fund too... that made the pres of the company happy...
