If you've read HOOD, you are undoubtedly anxious to see what books 2 and 3 will have to offer. What paths will be taken? What new characters may be introduced? What known characters will amaze or disappoint? And how will Lawhead choose to end his version of this well-known legend?
Feel free to speculate on any aspect of the coming books. Just remember, there is a spoilers thread for HOOD, so be careful not to give away too much of the first book here.

To get things started, I'm interested to see if the second book becomes primarily a spiritual journey, much like Merlin in the Pendragon Cycle (which also happened to be a 'book 2'). If so, the possibilities become endless and could lead to very unpredictable and breath-taking read.
I also wonder if he will use first person voice with Bran. Wouldn't that be a treat, to actually get inside Bran's head? Considering how the typical Robin Hood stories end with little change socially aside from a moral victory for Robin and his clan, I wonder how SRL is going to address this. I have to believe the satisfaction will come from a spiritual victory -- one that could get real in depth in book 2.

So, if you saw the tagboard today, you saw the following quote from SRL:
"I can't stay long, but I thought it might interest you to know that I've just completed the penultimate chapter in SCARLET - King Raven Book II"
After looking up 'penultimate' in the dictionary, I became very excited! I wonder what is in store for us....

Who do you suppose Scarlet will even be? He hasn't been introduced yet*, as of the close of the first book. All we have so far is this little blurb from promotional material for Hood:
"The second, Scarlet, will be told from the perspective of Will Scarlet [...] as he awaits the hangman's noose."
(By the way, if this is indeed the way things turn out, that would answer your question, dgan, about the voice of the narrative.)
Though obviously Scarlet couldn't be the king, William Rufus, I think the fact that their names are essentially the same suggests intriguing possibilities that couldn't be there if the story had been set in Richard's time.
* I have to qualify that. He hasn't been introduced yet, or at least if he has, that name has not yet been used for him. One member who talked with me about this a few weeks ago has an idea that it might be a certain someone we have seen.

I would have to say that I believe Scarlet has already been introduced and is a member of Bran's merry band already, under his British name of course(Siarles).

I think you've got it right with that Danath. We'll have to wait and see to be certain but I would wager you're right.

Would the name 'Siarles' answer to our 'Charles'?

I thought automatically of Siarles. He's the only other of Bran's band to have been singled out.

Well, after finishing Hood and suffering the usual (and immediate) withdrawal symptoms, I tried to sate myself by reading up on the historical context of the story. And I found something *very* interesting... Take a look at this article on William Rufus: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_II_of_EnglandEspecially, interesting is the section near the bottom entitled "The unusual death of William II". What are the odds that this gets incorporated into the trilogy? I think they're pretty durn good... What do the rest of you think?

Fascinating!! I think the chances are pretty high!! and reading the blurb on Amazon UK about Scarlett makes me desperately want to read it!!
Though I have trouble disassociating the word Scarlett from Gone with the Wind...
