I work in the book industry and have an early-edition galley of Hood. I am halfway through it, and it is FANTASTIC!!! The development of the main character is amazing. One of my coworkers referred to it as "The best thing Lawhead has ever written." and "I'm dying for book 2"

Welcome Bob! We're glad to have you among us here. If you want to post some Hood spoilers or talk about it before it's actually released, there's another thread dedicated to the ARC, for those of us who have managed to get our hands on it as well.

Alas, I don't like spoilers, but I hate waiting... Hmmm....For some reason, my old account, Tulkas, is no longer in service...
Oh well, I like my new name anyway.

Cool, I might look into that. It seems to me as though this is going to be a very good book series. I Like the retellings of old Legends.

Hello, this is my first post. I just wanted to let people know that Amazon.com (us version) sent a pre-ordered copy of Hood out to me on Saturday. I haven't received it yet, but this is a couple weeks before I was expecting it. I'm excited (though it'll change my reading plans). Anybody else have this happen?

Well, the book came today. That's two weeks early by my count. It's been long enough since I last read Lawhead that I'm trying to figure out how to best mark the beginning of reading the book. I've got the King Raven EP (great music, Jeff & Brian's best since Byzantium) so I know I'm going to put that on in the background. But it's a crazy week at Church with us getting ready to kick off our Fall programs so I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to really sit down and read. What do you do to immerse yourself in the reading of a new book? Also, the cover of the book is a bit different than what is on the site. The trees are a bit different and the trilogy logo is totally different.

hey all, I was just wondering, admins let me know (if I am asking for spoiler an spank me if I am) if this book had any thing to do w/ William Wallace. (the big Scott's man, w/ lighting bolts coming out of his arse) the reason I ask is after seeing brave heart and then touring around England and Wales, I started to do my own learning, and realise that the true store of William Wallace looked a lot like the legend of Robin Hood. It is my personal suspicion that Robin hood is just a twisted version of the True history of Wallace, twisted by the English government to correct/dehumanise the great legend that Wallace was. any takers, of this controversial post?

Interesting idea but I don't think this book had anything to do with William Wallace. I have a pretty good feeling that SRL would have checked into the background of the story and if it had ties to Wallace, it wouldn't have turned into the Robin Hood type tale.

I could believe that their are other Robin Hood stories which may have been influenced by Wallace. But I think Dred is right - in Lawhead's interview, he gave a pretty clear indication of what formed his concept for HOOD and there was no mention of Wallace in there.
However, it cannot be coincidence that many of those stories from many different cultures all seem to be cut from the same cloth and have striking similarities. I think that says a lot about the times and how the world as a whole was changing culturally. There were worldwide efforts (yet, strangely not "coordinated" efforts) both to snuff out as well as to maintain and restore certain fundamental cultural ideologies.
The same could be said today, in fact.
