Well, 7-1. Last time I had a start this good was my first year ever to play FFL, when I also started 7-1. I then went on to lose every remaining game. Yeah...welcome to fantasy football. So this time I'm looking to finish strong. Problem is this week I play the other 7-1 team...we're actually the only two teams with winning record. There's a few .500 teams and a few at 3-5. Plenty of parity. One of my main guys, Westbrook, is on a BYE. But I still have Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, and Chad Johnson (who I just traded for a couple weeks ago). So we'll see if I can pull out a win this week to hold the #1 spot. Which is pretty huge because the #1 in each division gets a first round bye in the playoffs. If I finish #2 in my divison, I have to win 3 playoff games in a row to win the Championship. I know no one cares, but I just like to hear myself talk....

I care, dgan. Well, let's say, I'm interested. For me, I'm also 7-1 and look good to win this week as well. I haven't had much QB success. Hasselbeck is out and I picked up Grossman, who was pretty gross this week. But - I have Tomlinson, Kevin Jones, and Baltimore Def. Add to that 2 TDs from Joey Galloway and 1 from Alge Crumpler, and I'm pounding my opponent. I may have to pick up a different QB, though. I don't like next week where Grossman is at NY Giants.

Yeah, it's looking like teams are figuring out Grossman now that they have some tape on him. He's pretty much been digressing after those first 4 amazing games. I have Galloway as well...on my bench. More importantly, I'm waiting for Xray results on McGahee...that's probably the one injury I didn't have a backup plan for. I still have Westbrook and Chester Taylor, but after that not much else that is reliable. I guess I don't really mind if he's out a couple weeks, but I was banking on McGahee to be there in weeks 14-16 for the fantasy playoffs...

So I dumped Grossman and picked up ... Are you sitting down? ... Jon Kitna of the Detroit Lions. You see, Detroit plays San Francisco next Sunday so I am expecting a good showing from Jon.

Hey, it's Mad Martz at the controls there. And Roy Williams is playing out of his mind (which incidentally, I think he is out of his mind. They would do themselves good to sew his mouth shut.) Anyway, I like Kitna. Remember, he went to the Pro Bowl the year before Carson Palmer got the starting job in Cinci. I could never understand why they didn't trade him...why have two Pro Bowl calibre QBs on your team? Still scratch my head on that... I just lost by less than a point. Randy Moss in garbage time. The worst part was that when I saw the stat total, I actually thought I had won by 0.2 points. But then I log on and see ESPN made a stat correction sometime this afternoon to one of my opponent's players, giving him one more point. So now I'm up because I can't sleep...I think karenee was right...

Funny, my last post was about that Randy Moss garbage time game. I had a feeling that would have huge implications on my season - I was not wrong. Try to follow... Because of that loss, I split the head-to-head matchup with "Jim", the other really good team in our league. At the time, we were both 7-2 (I think...we had two losses anyway). If we finished with the same record, it would go to tiebreakers. Head-to-head is a wash, so the next tiebreaker is division record since we are in the same division. He was ahead by one game there, so basically I needed to win out and he needed to lose one of his remaining games in order for me to get the #1 seed and a first round bye. He didn't lose. We both won out, finishing 11-2. Now, the next best team finished 7-6, so you would think I would get the #2 seed and still get a first round bye. Nope. Division winners get the top two seeds, so even though I tied for the best record, I'm stuck with the #3 seed. What does all this mean? It means I have to play an extra playoff game this week! ARGH! Sure enough the guy I'm playing had Willie Parker, so after Thurday's game, I'm already behind by 24 points. And to top it off, two of my running backs Chester Taylor and Willis McGahee are both injured and may not play. This would leave me starting Corey Dillon against that stout Denver defense. And even worse, I have been riding Peyton Manning all season - but he plays his fantasy nemesis, the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend. All in all, it looks like a stroke of bad luck may bounce me out of the first round of the playoffs AGAIN! I can't believe this keeps happening to me. All because of 1 extra Randy Moss garbage time reception on Monday Night Football several weeks ago. But I'm still holding out hope that I'll pull out a win this week. Then I would be the favorite to take it all. Whew...I'm out of breath trying to describe that...I'm sure it makes almost no sense at all to anyone who just took the time to read it.

I hear you, dgan. Head to Head play can be frustrating. I am currently 11-1, but don't be thinking that I'm a mastermind. I've got LaDanian Tomlinson. Almost any fool with him on his team can win games. But going into the playoffs, I have to think that I am going to lose. I've been too lucky so far. A couple weeks ago my team scored over 139 points, which in my Yahoo league that's incredible. If you get in the 80's you almost assured a win. What's more incredible is that I had had Romo on my bench when he scored those 5 TD's. Anyway, last week I scored a meager 48 points but my opponent scored 43, so I still won. I easily in first place and will have the 1st round bye, but I've got a bad feeling that after a great season I won't end up winning it all. Oh well.

Well, enjoy your first round bye. I'm off to find the latest medical report on Willis McGahee...

The weekend immediately following this post, I lost. Sore subject. I didn't just lose...I was embarrassed. Had I won that week, I would have won the championship. Mind you, I was >this< close to having a bye in the week that I lost. So, essentially, one Randy Moss garbage time catch in a meaningless game in the middle of the season cost me a Championship. *sigh* I pick 5th next year...Peyton Manning again? Probably not...but I guess we'll see...

Why not go for Peyton? Sorry, I'm from Indiana of course so the Colts are the gods of football in my opinion. I think I might try some FF next year... I haven't really been a big fan of football in general until last year.

We'll wait a while just in case anyone else wants to report on this year's results. Meanwhile, for another way to win at fantasy sports, here's this:
