I hoped that "Phantom of the Opera" would be a drama ABOUT the musical...like "Anna and the King " was the dramatization of the musical the "King and I" I did NOT do enough research before I asked my wife to go with me. Although the points I earned by sitting all the way thru it with minimal eye-rolling and twitching are still working for me...(we saw it the night after Valentine's day) so it was worth the torment. It was my first encounter with the story and I was fairly dismayed by the darkness of it...

It is kind of a dark movie but the music is amazing. I really enjoyed the movie. I would love to see the play production of it sometime.
I recently saw Friday Night Lights. It struck me as being pretty realistic if more than a little messed up that people get that into their sports.

Yay! A fellow Grobanite!
Hmm...a scary movie? Rose Red really freaked me out for some odd reason...maybe it's because I was sleep-deprived, at a friends house, and drinking lots and lots of soda...caffeine+Amanda+3 AM+scary movie=up all night, lol

I'm in love with Phantom of the Opera. I thought the movie was very good, and I would have been extremely disappointed had it not been the musical Funny story...ish...so a few months ago, The Ring came on one of the movie channels. I'd never seen it, so I sat down to watch it. Just at the climax (right after you think it's over but it's not), my brother pitches a fit over dishes or something. He has a very bad temper, so Ieft and didn't finish the movie. But I couldn't stop thinking about it...Well, later that night I had to wake my sister up and ask her how it ended because I couldn't sleep.

There was that moment in Return of the King...you know what I'm talking about...
Frodo has just escaped Shelob's Lair. He's walking through the crevice, thinking he's free. Then he hears a sound, like something creeping above him. He whirls around and looks...nothing. Then you see it, behind him, the slowly rising shape of the monster, its claw reaching down, dripping with liquid...Frodo turns, suddenly knowing she's there...
I'm telling you, I went with two arachniphobics to see that movie; it sounds cruel, but it was hilarious.

The previews of Constantine scared the pants off me... The movie's actually less of a horror flick than the previews paint it out to be.

The scariest movie I ever saw? Care Bears. Nothing is that cute and cuddly unless it's really evil and nasty.
Gave me nightmares I tell ya... nightmares!
