Cool! I've added it to my B&N's wishlist--I'm trying to spend more on charity than on myself right now, but Christmas might be a good time for a bit of a splurge.

Well, I got it ahead of schedule. Very well done, I must say. Faith's identity is a fascinating twist. The only thing I can think of that would make it better would be if those long stretches of time that you describe (like the slavery period) were more filled out, maybe with a closer look at Mariah's daily life.
