Yes, I write a little. A lot is either about God or to God. So I thought, why not post it here?
I hope you like it...
You are not alone
Maybe this time it’ll be different,
Maybe this time you’ll win,
Look and search inside you,
The battle’s raging deep within,
So put on your armour,
Don’t turn back,
For He has whatever you lack.
I am not alone,
And I won’t turn back,
He has given me what I lack,
The courage to fight,
The strength within,
I choose not to live with sin.
I move into battle,
I’m ready to fight,
The swords are slashing left and right,
On I press,
He’s right beside,
My ever patient,
Loving guide,
A sword comes toward me from the left,
Surely it will be my death,
My guide steps forward,
He suddenly kneels,
He has saved me from the steel,
He takes my hand, and says
“This you should know,
For you I took the fatal blow.”
The Soldier
I am a soldier ready for battle,
I have my armour, standing tall,
Cobwebs and rust coat my sword,
Perhaps I'm not really ready at all.
I've been standing nigh on years,
Perhaps today the commander will call.
My ears hear noise, I turn and see,
An army defeating the enemy,
I start to run, but it's too late
The battle is over, I'm irate
I storm to the commander, and I cry
I was ready sir, so why?
Why did you not call me,
To fight and defeat my sin,
Others conquered theirs today,
Mine’s still locked up deep within.
The commander shakes his head and sighs,
You know not how often you have been called
To lift your shield, take up your sword,
But you simply turned away,
Didn't hear what I had to say,
The battle was pressing down my son,
I didn't have a choice,
You, my son had one every day,
But you refused to hear my voice.
Looking back looking forward.
I stand on the edge of the shadow,
Looking back, looking forward,
I want to step into the light, but the dark is all I know,
Looking back,
my past sends out tendrils of black guilt to ensnare,
Looking forward,
Hope beckons, forgiveness is there.
Darkness knows he's loosing hold,
He shrieks "Worthless"
His shadowed blade pierces my soul,
Alone, I stumble,
Then, another is at my side,
Helping me to stand,
Steady hands are my guide.
Smiling, I turn to my newfound friend,
Alone I couldn't get free,
Together we can reach the end,
I reach out, take his hand, and we step into the light.
Turn around,
And beat back the night.
This last one is just a general one, They built an estate down a country road behind my house.
The creek could not fight back.
I walk along the road, down the old beaten track
The creek, she runs beside me, the sun is on my back,
A bird call sounds from up on high,
Winging its way ‘neath azure sky.
Memories, like flowers, I gather along the way,
Nature is around me, I’m content, no skies are grey,
Glades, and verdant willow trees,
Fresh, pure smells upon the breeze,
Fallen tree bridges forge the stream,
Small pink flowers, grasses green,
All this now in memories past,
Weep my friends, it did not last.
Metal monsters came one day,
For a prolonged, unwanted stay,
They ripped up trees, they gouged the earth,
To feed the Corporate’s greedy girth,
They destroyed, all that I once held dear,
That stay’d unchanged for year on year,
Hear me now, right from the start,
When they gouged the earth, they gouged my heart.
Now battered, broken, here I stand
Looking out across the land,
As I remember all I now lack,
A scream builds up inside me; ‘The creek could not fight back!’
I hope you like it...
