I've been very interrested in how SRL has represented the Ceile De in his books (Patrick, Byzantium, etc), so I googled it to hopefully get some historical context. This site was the first to pop up. Since I haven't found a lot of other info, I was wondering what others thought of it. Seems a bit too mystical to me, but how do we really know what they were all about anyway?

When I put Ceile De into Google, I got different results (click here) most of which paints them as pagan, or at least the last remnant of duidism. You'll find a lot of the threads found in Lawhead's stories... and I like his take on it better...

I think Lawhead does this sort of thing a lot...pours his own context into things that are either mythical or very obscure. It creates context and a set of fascinating characters. And it allows him to use magic without actually using magic, which is a nice little way to fit the fantastic in.
