In the fantasy of our minds, we always envision SRL having his thumbprint on any movie, thus preventing any abuse. Of course, that is not the way things work, but since we're dreaming we can imagine anything we want!

Seriously! We probably have 500 horses at our school right now, not that hard, not that hard at all. So I keep holding my breath for a movie to come out. And i get mad when I see books like Eragon already being turned into a movie when it's so new compared to Lawheads, ya know? Even thought I love Eragon, but I would much rather see the Pendragon cycle be made into a movie, k i will stop ranting now!!

I think the diffuculty with the pendragon movie isn't so much the books but the story. The Arthurian legends already has an awesome movie in "Excalibur" and "King Arthur" has Keira Knightley who is the PERFECT Guenivere. But besides that is has... 9 movies based on arthur and his legends. Its become a bit of a worn subject for producers I think. If we are lucky, there will be another movie in say... 9 years?

I will agree with that, however the part of Pendragon Cycle I would most like to see in a movie is Taliesin. With CG these days, Atlantis could be unbelievably fantastic. And, since Taliesin on its own has nothing to do with Arthur, you could get people hooked into the series before submitting them to another Arthurian story. And by that time, they will realize the story is SO different from the others, they will be interested.
And I also agree Keira was the perfect Guenivere in THAT story, but she does not have the type of physcial build/prowess I envision in SRL's version. Although, I haven't decided who WOULD fit the image in my mind's eye...

OK, it's getting close to midnight and I don't have time or energy to see whether this has already been addressed or whether there's already a thread for it... so apologies if this is out of place (Mods - move me as you see fit!! ;D ) My cast list for the Pendragon Cycle movie - I read on another thread that Jherprincess is going to make them - follows (in bits and bobs - I'll add to this in coming days): Arthur: Viggo Mortensen. He's regal. He's got it. He works. Gwenhwyfar: Rachel Weisz. It's a preliminary casting, but I reckon she has the range. And the look. Boy does she have the look. Myrddin: Liam Neeson. This was a tricky one. Cai or Bedwyr: Sean Bean. He's still Sharp. I have to go back and skim through the books again I think. Gotta find a way to get David Tennant and Richard E. Grant into this. How bout Tennant as Taliesin? Yep we'll go with that: Taliesin: David Tennant. He CERTAINLY has the range. Not sure if he can sing though... Wonder if I can get Kenneth Branagh into the mix... he'd probably want to be Arthur I guess ... not that he'd be too bad for that job ... and we'll need Brian Blessed and Billy Connolly for jobs too, just haven't worked out which ones yet Ok... bed time. More to follow!

Has anyone checked the Internet Movie Database to find out if any of the books are optioned, in pre-production, or simply off the radar?
I may just do that myself! :-)

Okay, I checked IMDb.com (the Internet Movie Database) for any film having the titles of Mr. Lawhead's books. No projects appear. There is a project in production named "Byzantium", but it is NOT connected with Mr. Lawhead. It is some weird vampire flick. Again, the "Byzantium" listed on IMDb is NOT connected with Mr. Lawhead's novel.
So, unless they are keeping the projects hidden under a different title (and that is often done) no books by Mr. Lawhead are being made into films, according to IMDb.
