Does anyone on the board read David Gemmell. I went through the first four pages on here and couldn't find any reference to him, so if ths is a duplicate thread, then please forgive me. ;D
I've read nearly all of DG books apart from While knight Black Swan. Has anyone else read his work and what do you think about it?
P.s. For those who don't know DG passed away on Friday 28th July, 2006.

I read Troy: Lord of the Silver Bow. It was an interesting revision of Homer, but I found a lot of aspects unnecessarily disgusting (homosexual women, rapacious men, and all the violence).

Child of Immanuel, I can understand why you find some parts of Troy - Lord Of The Silver Bow unpalatable, however, being set in Ancient Greece, the homosexuality, rapacious men and all the violence, do, however unfortunately, fit within the setting.
As a Gemmell fan, i would humbly ask that you would give his work another try, as not all of his books are within the setting of Troy.
Generally Gemmell writes about flawed characters and the redemption that they may (or may not) choose. A good example of this is Wolf In Shadow or Waylander.
I do think you would enjoy Wolf In Shadow or Waylander, although i will admit Gemmell's books are usually set in a violent world, unfortunate though that might be it does parallell the world we live in today.. however in Gemmell's worlds the Hero usually wins - unlike in this one.
