My dear husband is actually reading the Emperor series all day and late into the night. I NEVER thought to see him read like I do, and with such focus. So...if any of you are into historical fiction... I bet you'd like these books.

I've never even heard of this stuff but I'll have to look into it if you recommend it.

Ok, NOW I recommend them. I read the first book last night, and it's no wonder my dearly beloved has such a hard time putting them down.
I'm not sure if it lives up to Lawhead--but then, ancient Rome isn't exactly a subject of prime interest to me.

These 4 books are really quite good. I discovered them quite by accident shortly after the first was published a few years back. I'm hoping to get my hands on his newest here before long, but I still have too many books to read.

These are man-books (yes, the opposite of chick-lit) guessing that if statistics were done men would enjoy them more based on their content and style of presentation. Because I am not reading much, and what I'm reading is either philosophical or complete fluff, I haven't bothered with books 2-4.
According to DH things slow down somewhere around book 3 because Iggulden is so into historical detail. But for an interesting look into history, these triumph over the average history book hands down.

So I have now gotten a hold of his newest and am working on it now.

All in all a good read, but definately aimed at a male audience. If you've read the Emperor series, you'll like this one.
