I've only read up to the fourth one, and was rather bored with the series by that one, so I was wondering if 5 and 6 were worth my time. Several of my friends have been telling me that I should read them, but I don't think I'm bored enough yet.

Persoanlly, 4, 5, & 6 are the only ones I liked. One of my friends got bored and quit 5 though...it's the level of writing, really. Beginning with 4, Rowling started to kick it up a notch for an older audience. If that's what you want, read them. If not...whatever.

I found number five Irritating, I couldn't stand Harry' attitude (although it was understandable) but I absolutly loved the 6th

They are worth the read. The fifth book in incredible, despite Harry's attitude (ok, we've all been there so lay off him--adolescence is rough, especially when you've grown up in a household of people who barely tolerate you, your parents have been murdered, and a psychotic would-be tyrant wants you dead), because it gives you such a good understanding of Harry. Book Six's sole purpose is to give you that same kind of understanding about the Dark Lord. Definitely worth the read.

I'm enjoying the fifth book right now. There is a definite change in the tone and direction towards a more adult reader. Still keeps me reading. I'm looking forward to book 6.

Book 5 was dreary but not impossible. I only laughed twice, however, and once the first time.

5 I liked about as much as the first, and less than 2-4; it meandered a bit too much for my tastes. Six by far made up for it, especially since all of that teen angst pays out in Harry's development.

Book six was really good. There are so many questions that need to be answered and it's going to be a while before book 7.

I hope book seven is good, Im really worried she is going to screw it up. I have seen alot of authors make the last book in their series nothing but the book to tie up loose ends. It seems like they forget it should have a story as well. I do trust JKR, but I am still worried. One thing I hope is that she ignores what fans want and leaves sirius as dead. If she brings him back from the dead it will seem like a cheap out

I doubt she will; she's said more than once that "dead is dead," usually when fans have been whining about Sirius.

For me the best ones are 3 and 6 followed by 5. Most people I know stopped at the 5th book. Most of them haven't read it to the end yet.
