I'm half-way through the second book. For those who know, the first ended in an ... unexpected way. This book is different again still. Again some of it unexpected. [It's tough to discuss when I have to assume most have not read it.] It's good fantasy, though. But it's more than just the good guys going off to deal with the big scary evil guy. Some of that happens of course, but there's more character development than many books I've read. I think I prefer Lawhead's writing style somewhat more, but it's nice to have another author to compare and contrast.

I finally go back to finishing this book. Very good read! You have to read the first one of course. This one leaves you hanging as well, and I don't know when the next one is due out.
This series gets a DanTheMan thumbs up!

I must say that I am hooked on L. B. Graham's books. I am presently reading his third novel, Shadsow in the Deep" in the series "The Binding of the Blade". His style is unique and he is not afraid to "change it up", "explore", or "totally take you by surprise" in his books.

I just started this book and it is amazing, the way I got hooked on this book was like never before. I think this is because this guy is in his late 30's so he isn't like a wizard and full of knowledge =P not to say that he isn't smart though! definately read this book if you finish your current book and are like NOOOOOO what do I read?!?

I enjoyed the first two books immensely. Graham has a wonderful adventure story going with great depth. I can't wait to get the third book, "Shadow in the Deep" and read it. As I understand it, there will be one more book in "The Binding of the Blade" series.
If you check out his web site, you will find out that each book is going to correspond to a different season (eg. Summer, Winter, etc.). I think this is why there is such a difference between each book in its style. He's not Lawhead, but this focused approach is really enjoyable and interesting.
In Christ,

Welcome here, eraint! You're reading some very good books, imho. Although not quite second on my list (I'll have to put Lewis and Tolkien up there, even before Lawhead), Graham with this series has probably established himself as being among my 'short list' of favorite fiction writers. I agree with you and the others here that this is a highly recommended series.

Welcome here, treskillard! And thanks for the link! I've been enjoying his Binding of the Blade series, and I look forward to the final installment in April or so, All My Holy Mountain. Very good stuff. And then there's your own forthcoming project and blog. I encourage the rest of you to > click here < to find out more about treskillard's work and ideas. (And, treskillard, feel free to start a thread here about all that.)

I've been a longtime Lawhead fan (12 years now), and am proud to say that he has inspired me to write. As such, I'm more just wanting to be part of the community than directly promote my own stuff, but thanks for the plug!
