I just finished The Darkness That Comes Before, and I daresay it was amazing! I don't believe, however, I've heard anyone on this site discuss Prince of Nothing. The third book of the trilogy should be out next year I believe, jump on the bandwagon folks!

Seriously, guys, read these freaking books! They are perhaps the most well-written epic fantasy novels I've ever read. They read almost as historical documents at times. Not to mention the setting is wonderful.

My gosh, how long has my thread sat here now w/no response?! Man, I hardly show for months 'cause of my new school schedule and STILL no one checks out Bakker??!?!?! Tsk tsk, I say. TSK TSK!! But really, my regard for the novels has only gone up as time has gone by and they've stayed in my mind.

I'm going to check them out. I love fantasy. I'll get back to you when I do.

These books were on my Christmas wish list, they sounded really good from the descriptions on Amazon. I didn't get them, and I still intend to at some point so good to know you are enjoying them By the way, the books I was given instead are the most intensely absorbing and compelling books I have read in a long time - Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen. I am reading the sixth book, and the whole series is quite astounding in its complexity.

Just to let you know, and to keep you from losing all hope in the members of this forum. I have a copy of The Darkness That Comes Before sitting on my shelf just waiting to be read. This will occur just as soon as I finish The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell, which should be finished either today or tomorrow.
