I was wondering if anyone else has read the book "East" by Edith Pattou. It's a very interesting retelling of the fairy tale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon". I adored the characters, and even though I knew what was going to happen, or at least I had a very good idea of how it would end, I still found myself worrying about the fate of the characters. And I loved reading about Rose, the main character, because she reminded me so much of myself.

I loved it! I'd never heard the story before... do you know where I can find something near the original?

Well, it's a Norweigen fairy tale, but it is a pretty rare one. The Rainbow Fairy Book, edited by Andrew Lang and illustrated by Michael Hague has the orginal, or close to the original, but I'm not sure that it's in print anymore.

I could never find any of the colored fairy books in my library.
