I was wondering what fairy tales people here love. I personally love almost all fairy tales, but my favorites are The Tinderbox, The Master Thief, Puss in Boots, and East of the Sun, West of the Moon (although it's been awhile since I read the last one). I really enjoy Hans Christian Anderson's stories, and I recently bought a book of his stories from the 1890's. (Found it at a used book sale.)
I forgot The Snow Queen! I can't believe I forgot my favorite. *smacks self*

Pretty much anything if well written in a new way.

I love MacDonald's 'Back of the North Wind' and 'Lilith'. Though I'm not sure they are true fairy tales, they have that feel for me.
Another, more traditional, favorite is Cinderella. I love any incarnation of that story (aside from a few idiotic exceptions) and am collecting select cinderella carriages and every unique DVD and book version I can find to prove it.

Lately I've found myself engrossed in Grimm's Fairy Tales which I always enjoy. Now I have no idea how many people here can tolerate comics but theres this comic out there called "Fables" and its about fairy tale creatures coming to the real world. To show you what I mean, King Cole is the Gov. of their close knit community, Snow White is the gov. asst. and the Big Bad Wolf is the Sherrif, also known as Bigby. Its an awsome read and well worth the money.
