Recently I picked up a book at Borders only because one word in the title (Merlin) caught my attention. I bought the book, enjoyed it and have since purchased other books by TA Barron. The target audience is children but I enjoyed the "Lost Years of Merlin" series. I don't know this for a fact but Barron seems to pull from many of my favorite authors: CS Lewis, SRL and Madeleine L'Engle. Has anyone else read anything by Barron? I would like to know if others noticed these influences.

I read his The Merlin Effect some years ago; as I recall it was quite an enjoyable story.

I read the first three books which was lots of fun. But since im poor at the moment, I figure one day when I do have money I'll go crazy, buy all the books in the series and read them straight through.

Since you've read Barron, did you notice any influences by the authors I mentioned (or others) or was it just my imagination?

Yea I agree that there are a lot of those author elements there... but I'm not sure about SRL. I also see a strong influence of Jane Yolen in there too... Or it could be her stuff are just aimed at the same target audience. I don't know... I just know I like it =P
