Has anyone ever read Eragon? If not I highly reccomend it. I started reading it, but had to put it down when I started my own story. It is on my list of books to pick back up when I finish writing.

I read it, and enjoyed it somewhat. I thought it was predictable, and the plot was *COUGHCOUGH*Star Wars*COUGH*. But it was fun.

Which Star Wars?
Whiny teenage boy goes bad and wipes out the majority of the good people in the universe, then helps rule it with an iron fist
OR
Whiny teenage boy makes good and rescues universe from father who helps rule universe with an iron first?

Original trilogy. Tons of whiny farmboy vibes from Eragon.

But it's a big step above a lot of the children's fantasy books out there...and when you consider that the author was 15-16 when he wrote it...it gives hope to all of the aspiring artists out there(winks at Twyrch)...and I liked the original Star Wars...

Here's another amazing little fact... His parents are published authors and no publisher would touch his book... so his parents took the route of self-publishing... pulled some strings and got his book into the public. There's some controversy about whether he wrote all of it... or if he had help from his parents. It's very interesting....

Well, not to derail the thread or anything but I like Star Wars as a whole. I'm just saying, the story line is a little cliche--or archetypal, depending on how kind you feel like being. Besides, I was just joking around.

Yeah, when I found out that someone that young wrote it, I wondered if he got help from his parents, especially because they are authors themselves. . .
