Could anyone tell me about Jack Whyte, and especially the Camulud Chronicles, I know there is mention of him on the Readers Write page on SRL's site, but I can't find much else about him.

I read all of the books up to Uther. They're pretty good if you like historical novels and the late Roman period. He does tend to bog down in details a bit, so the books may move quite slowly for some people. Also, he's a bit rough... there's quite a bit of language and even the good guys are a bit morally confused when it comes to sex. Some of the near-gratuitous sex is out-of-place... not really part of the story. Thankfully, those bits come and go quickly enough and then you get back to the story. Overall, they're very good books. Whether I recommend them or not depends on the person. Here's his website: www.camulod.com/

I read Uthur but I found that parts seemed like he was trying to writing a Harlequin novel, it was kinda nasty good story otherwise.

It was a fun read if thats all you took it for. I've browsed around with the fan posters over there for a while and even they have mixed feeling about some of his stuff. I don't like it so much because after doing some number running at the end of The Metamorphosis, its like 30,000 vs 200,000. The guy just let the numbers too insane to be real. And as far as books go for as an arthurian bit, the build up was better than the story it was trying to build too.

I rate this author up their with Lawhead, and while sometimes the stories do get out of hand, is historical perspective on Author and his history, is quite amazing and I STRONGLY reccomend these books to anyone who likes Lawhead, though they are a bit more promiscuous, to say the least. Yet they are still page turners and also very insightful. He's started on a new series though about the Templars, I have the book, and I'm looking forward to reading it, after I finish 1984. Does anyone know if this book are as well written as his Author series?

Has anyone read his new book about the Templars? I've been considering it and was looking for opinions.

Hi. I'm new to this site and I've read Jack Whyte's first Templars book. It's very good, aside from historical inaccuracies that the book has. I didn't even know about those until I found out about them from other readers. I couldn't tell you where they are exactly, but if they don't bother you, it's a very good read. Oh yeah, there is also the unneccessary sex thrown in, so just be aware of that. I loved the book, though. I hope you do if you decide to read it.
