I don't know if anyone has read any of Silverberg's work. Namely the Majipoor series. I found the books to be very interesting. I haven't read all of them but what I have read has me interested in reading more.
The size of the world, the rise and fall of the societies, all of it is entertaining.
Any thoughts?

I've never heard of anyone else who read anything by Silverberg. I can't find his books anywhere anymore. I have The Majipoor Chronicles and Valentine Pontifex but haven't read them recently. Several years ago I also read Gilgamesh the King (I think that's the title) and enjoyed it very much. There was another book by him...it was set in the future. People lived underground and a young boy who would be the next leader led his people back to the outside world. I really like his stuff. I can't remember the title.
The Majipoor stories are great. There are several others that I have not read and if you can find them, check out his other books.

I guess it will be the two of us talking about Silverberg's work. I haven't branched out beyond the Majipoor series. I haven't even read all of his books in that world. I've been meaning to but have yet to do so.
The book you described sounds familiar but I can't put a title to it.

I actually found Lord Valentine's Castle on an urgent search for English titles while in Bolivia. He does tell and interesting story. I wonder why he is not widely read.
