Ok, I'm not sure whether Chuck P appeals to everyone--in fact, I know he doesn't--but in general I love his books. This afternoon, not fifteen minutes ago, I finished Lullabye, and I must say it is his best book since Fight Club. I may like it better than Fight Club.
I mean, yeah, he's got a chip on his shoulder about how the modern world is a horrible place to live--but then again, so do I. And yeah, he writes about wanting to blow it up, mass muder everyone, start over--but sometimes, a little extremism is refreshing.
Like I said, I know he doesn't appeal to everyone; he's vulgar, occasionally disgusting, and he often writes casually about topics most of us find offensive; but sometimes, it just feels good to be offended.

The movie is, on the whole, very faithful to the book; but the book is infinitely better.
One of my favorite bits that is left out of the movie is when Tyler and Jack (Joe in the book) are sleeping in a beat up car have the following exchange:
Tyler: "Do you know what Marilyn Monroe would be doing if she were alive right now?"
Joe: "What?"
Tyler: "Clawing at the lid of her coffin."

One thing the movie did better - renamed Joe, Jack...I just like it more...

Since apparently its an issue over on the Stephen King thread, I'll issue a general disclaimer: DO NOT READ CHUCK P IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY PROFANITY (especially the 'f-bomb').

Yeah, I pretty much got used to reading profanity when I read Catcher in the Rye. A friend of mine got it in her mind to censor that book...for about ten pages...
