I was wondering if anyone had read any of Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast books (Titus Groan, Gormenghast, Titus Alone)? I've been reading Titus Groan off and on for the last few months, and I really enjoy it--although it is occasionally hard to read because Peake's style is highly experimental. I am, however, very fond of gothic romance, and these books certainly fit the bill.
So, how about it? Any other Peake fans?

I read the first book in his Gormenghast series....it was a fascinating read, there's no other way to put it. I quite enjoyed his "highly experimental" style of writing. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the side story involving Keda, though I suppose that it plays out it's purpose in the next books.

I'm still not finished with the books, but now that I'll have some time, maybe I'll be able to. I'm glad to hear that someone else enjoyed a little Peake.
