I have read the entire Artemis Fowl series and The Wish List. I have to say...even if the man writes children's books...his characters are hilarious, well developed, and full of surprises while his plots are intricate and complex. So...what are your thoughts/opinions on this stuff?

Artemis Fowl, Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code, The Wish List, Benny and Omar, and many others. He is an Irish author, and most of his books take place in Ireland...lots of magic with a modern, hilarious twist...great fun.www.eoincolfer.com/

i think these books are terrible and represent most of the things i hate in teen fiction. I enjoyed them when i read them in the 4th grade but when i read it again it was torturous.

lol...I don't think they were even out when I was in fourth grade...but I still love them! I think his writing style is very creative...it paints a clear picture without being the same old "kitchen boy" fantasy. Plus...you have to love Artemis. He is such a pain in the arse, but so cool about it, lol.

How childish we talkin here? Anything like Harry Potter 1-3? Cause I wouldn't be interested then, but what about compared to Harry Potter 4-5? ( especially 5 )

Hmm...I'd put them somewhere inbetween book 3 and 4...but Artemis and the rest of the characters are much more likeable...none of this whiny teenager crap from Harry and co. Although...I've been an HP fan for a longer time, lol. It is a quick read, so if you find you don't like it, you don't waste too much of your time. I encourage you to try them.

Let those among us who were not whiney (at least on occasion) as teens cast the first stone at Harry.

*casts first stone*
lol, jk...
But I can seriously count on one hand the number of times I've been whiny...and most of them were in my toddler days. My parents raised me to keep it in and be tough...girls in my family have to grow up fast. You have to train to be a mother...you can't waste time whining about how "nobody understands you" or "life's not fair." But that's just how I was raised.
