I am now a huge fan on Stephen Lawhead through reading the Pendragon Cycle, I wan to get the Song of Albion and ther Celtic Crusades but can't decide which series to get first. What would you suggest?

I suppose it depends on your preferred genre. Put simply, the Albion series is Otherworld/Fantasy and the Crusades series is classic historical fiction, typical of SRL.
My preference is the Crusades, although I believe most people would say Albion is Lawhead's best literary work.

CHEERS, what would your reasoning be for Albion?

The Celtic Crusades was just slightly disappointing to me. I love it, but it doesn't quite measure up to the bar Albion set.

Celtic Crusades is my preferance. Lately I have been choosing historical fiction over fantasy, but that aside, I thought that parts of the Song of Albion were a little weak.

CHEERS, what would your reasoning be for Albion? It is simply, the finest piece of literature that SRL has written. IMO, it is the pinnacle of his writing career.

**thread derailment** What do you guys who have read it think of the Celtic Crusades? I just read them for only the second time and I was sadly disappointed. They just aren't that good. Granted, the Iron Lance has a few memorable episodes, and the Mystic Rose is a step above, but the series had me bored and wishing it was over by partway through the second book.

I really enjoyed the Celtic Crusades... but then the subject matter is... uh... "special" to me. They (especially the last) aren't particularly "action packed," but then neither is Sherlock Holmes or the average Agatha Christie book.
However, I would still recommend Albion first. I think they're the more "accessible" set between those two.

Albion was the first SRL I ever read so it has a special place in my heart.
I got the Celtic Crusades and those are pretty good. I was disappointed with The Mystic Rose. He didn't need that one in my opinion.
