I guess the publisher is thinking along the lines of something a little more mass-marketable than a leatherbound set, but if they're willing to print a smaller quantity of the new edition in (very) nice covers and slipcase and good paper, I'd certainly get one of those sets.
And if they came out with a matching edition of the Pendragon cycle as well, all the better! Especially since the earlier part of the Pendragon set never did come out in hardcover, as far as I know.

Would an interactive map on CD-ROM be too much to ask for? I suppose that's pushing my luck a bit, eh? Ohh... that would be a nice touch. Tegid, you're probably right... they will want to make them mass marketable. It'd be nice if they had the "collector's edition" and then the "platinum collector's edition".... I know... I'm just dreaming here.

1. I, too, vote for the CDs! I'd love to hear them with the books. 2. A good set of hardcovers (slipcases are always good) 3. Illustrations! I'd love some eloquent artwork. 4. May I have the interview and the map too? *grin*
Edited to add: I'd definitely cut into my budget to buy this set! « Last Edit: 2/24/06 at 22:23 by karenee »
I agree with Karenee, totally!

MAPS MAPS MAPS
And not just a total map of Albion, but individual place maps for Llogres, Prydain, Caledon, Ynys Sci, and Tir Aflan.
Maybe James Sinclair (who does the maps for George Martin) could be persuaded to draw them...

Din, people like you need a seperate book full of detailed background info. *laugh* (and, yes, I know there are more than just one of you people out there. I've seen the results of that sort of fixation in...oh...the Tolkien thread, for instance?) Which makes me think, "Why not?" I'm sure if devoted collectors would buy fancy leather bound sets, they'd also buy a seperate volume of maps and reference materials.
We can always dream, right?

1. Maps 2. Glossary 3. Other - Some background research details that led to the book... whether that is in interview form is not important to me.

Personally, I don't have any preferences.
Maps are cool... interviews are okay, glossary...hmmm I don't know, maybe CDs? What would the CDs be?

I assume the songs that some guys wrote to go along with the book.

We were referring to Jeff Johnson and Brian Dunning's three volumes of Songs from Albion. You could hear samples at www.arkmusic.comOr did you want me to drop by and let you and [green]your husband[/green] hear my copies, dancer?

As long as we're dreaming -- How about a fourth volume? (The Pendragon Cycle used to be just a trilogy.) This is what the covers of the reissues will be:

I just heard from SRL. "The Albion re-release will happen more or less simultaneously with the release of Hood. And the covers are terrific! SL" No word on the features added, so I guess we'll all be surprised.

This new edition is now released.
The new features are ....
- A pronunciation guide, similar to what the Pendragon Cycle books have - An interview with SRL in each volume (three different short interviews) - An article by SRL in The Paradise War titled 'Albion Forever!' - A 3 or 4 page excerpt from the opening chapter of Hood
