So, a coworker of mine was hospitalized today with the MRSA.
For those of you that don't know, that's the antibiotic-resistant superbug strain of Staph infection. For those that know me reasonably well, you'll realize that this has set me way back with my germ phobia.
But then, it is a flesh eating disease. I'm sure I'm not the only one panicing.
They've quarantined his office and are having it sterilized over the weekend.
Pray for him.
And for me. I'm considering going home and bathing in lye. Until I bleed. Which would then freak me out more because staph infects through open wounds. This is clearly a lose-lose for me.

Yikes, man! Good thing it was the weekend and you've got a few days of hardcore sterilization between you and a return to work. Maybe time for a few vacation days?

Hey din, just don't have any open sores and you should fine, right? No, just relax. . .I'm sure you're fine. over reacting won't help any at all. Keep on the Sunny side and I hope your coworker makes it out okay

Hin, I am well aware of the reasonable response...however, phobias are never reasonable.
I'm doing ok, though. But I have clorox-wiped down everything near my desk.
Status update, though, is that the poor unfortunate fellow with the MRSA is apparently doing much better. He'll be back for a half-day tomorrow, and probably will be doing half days in and out the rest of the week.

actually they reckon these bugs become super bugs because our society over reacts and has to have everything sterile and if they have a sore ear they rush down and get antibiotics etc...basically the over use of antibiotics to treat minor things that the body could fix itself in a few days or cleaning too much has cause these bugs to adapt to live so they have become immune to things we normally use to fight them.
