Thursday, October 11th is national Bipolar Disorder Awareness Day. Take action in honor of a child in your life who lives with bipolar disorder. Here's how you can get involved.
* Join CABF and connect with thousands of other parents around the country who are raising children with bipolar disorder;
* Volunteer to join CABF's Family Response Team or to help moderate one of CABF's message boards, online support groups, or our new chat rooms;
* Donate to CABF; donations from individuals like you represent our single largest source of support;
* Write your legislator to urge him/her to vote for the mental health parity bill; the Senate has passed one version; the House is to vote this month. Last year, untreated psychiatric illnesses cost the economy $550 billion, but it isn't about cost, it's about fairness;
* Educate yourself in CABF's Learning Center so you can share your knowledge with others;
* Share your story on CABF's website or with just one person to help end stigma;
* Forward this message so your friends can learn more about pediatric bipolar disorder;
* Send an eCard to someone you know living with bipolar disorder and let them know you care;
* Give a gift in honor of that special child in your life.
Just think, if each one of us picks just one action on the above list, what an impact it will have on our children! Make a difference and take action today!
On behalf of the one million children living with bipolar disorder, I thank you for your support.
