Okay, here's the deal. . .one of my professors asksed me to find the word for the bottom of a wine bottle. Normally this would be no problem, the internet guru I've become to my roommates is well known to those around me in NM. . .however, she told us no googling it which basically means no interneting it at all (can't get away with AskJeves or Yahoo cause she'll yell at me and I'll fail the assignment). . .So, I propose it to you peeps. . .
What is the bottom of a wine bottle called? There's got to be a name for it cause I know of a couple of people in my class who already have the answer. . .please tell me, I only have til the 16th to find it out and if push comes to shove, I'll start calling wineries. . .

If you mean the indent in a wine bottle at the bottom I think it's called a punt.

that seems to be what everyone is agreeing on. . .I may call a winery to see what they say, just to be on the safe side. . .

Since you have the word "punt" you could always use a dictionary and see what it describes. That way you're not actually using any of the net services available to you.

This is where the part of me that could've been a fantastic lawyer comes in and wants to split hairs:
Did your instructor give you instructions not to use google, etc, to find out the answer? Ok, you have fulfilled that condition; so, unless she also told you not to use google, etc, to check your answer, then I see a loophole that works to your advantage.
^^ See what I just did there?

Is that an online journal because I'm missing how this becomes a problem for you. Sorry.

No it's a journal for my class where I have to record my thought process on the words. . .everything that went into the word itself. . .it's so we have a better understanding of the English language so we can better interpret it. . .

Ohh. Well you can always put down the thoughts about taking the exact wording of the instructions and limitations you were given and how you used that to your advantage. Think like a lawyer for a little while but not for very long or you'll get warped.
