Seeing as how most everyone on here loves the Celtic literature I was wondering if anyone has heard of, or heard the band Albannach. I saw them at a highland festival this past summer and took a weekend trip to see them again this past Oct. and I suggest them to anyone that likes all things Celtic. They are not very traditional but I think they are awesome. The band consists of 5 drummers and a piper, very intense. If you are interested, I don't know if there music is downloadable (sp) but I do know that they are on Myspace so look them up.

Interesting. I'm interested in Celtic music but usually somewhat mellow stuff. Iona, Jeff Johnson, and Eden's Bridge. Sounds worth a look, though.

Bear, welcome to the forum! I hadn't heard of them, but might look them up. Along with the bands DanTheMan mentioned, I also listen to Enya, Marie (Moya) Brennan, Clannad, and Loreena McKennitt.

Wow, there are actually other people in this world who have heard of Albannach! I saw them at the PA Renaissance Faire recently (and promptly bought a CD). It was crazy; you could hear them playing from half way across the faire.

Yeh, I have been to about 5 of their shows at 2 festivals. At each show I was no farther then 20ft from them. Needless to say my head was pounding and I thought my ears would bleed but its worth it. I wish they would put out a new cd sometime soon. I have their only cd so far and a dvd of them performing at Grandfather Mountain in N.C. last year I think. They will be back in Tennessee the 19th & 20th of May and I'm stoked about goin to see them again.

Yeah, I wish I could go see them again. I think they might've been the ones to have the ren faire equivilent of a mosh pit by the stage.
