I do not generally trust these sorts of messages, but in this case I thought I'd spread the word, for my family and friends are those who will be managing the fund. The money sent will be used as they say.

The New Tribes Mission Bolivia Field has opened up a Flood/Disaster Relief Fund to channel donations to the Bolivian people impacted by the excessive rains and historic flooding. Interested donors can donate through the mission's home offices to the Bolivian Field Fund, with the notation "Bolivia Flood Relief".
The Bolivian Government has declared the country a disaster area and has put out a plea to the Bolivian public and the international community for aid for the flood victims. Already some AYORE, YUQUI, YURACARE, TRINITARIO, ESE EJJA, CHIMANE, QUECHUA and other indigenous groups have been severely affected by the flooding brought on by the extreme amounts of rainfall. Crops of bananas, yucca, rice, corn, and potatoes (the staple food crops of the communities) have been hit hard and within weeks whatever the people have on hand will be eaten up and it will take up to a year to get new crops up and producing. This means that the normal food supply will run out.
Babies, children, and the elderly are more vulnerable at these times and face a higher risk of succumbing to illnesses and diseases.
The rains have begun to let up but the flood waters, in some locations, will take months to dissipate. This also means an increase in mosquito and insect born illnesses like malaria and dengue fever.
The water wells have been compromised by the large amount of cattle and other animals that have drowned... some estimates between wild life and domestic puts the death toll at over a million animals decomposing in the water. The hygienic conditions are deteriorating due to fresh sewage mixing into the only available water supply where many of these communities are located.
The high spots of land in flooded areas are havens to humans and their animals, but also are the only places that wild animals can escape the same disaster. This increases the danger to people that comes from snakes, tigers and other wild animals.
NTM works with these people groups and we feel a great burden to help meet their urgent physical needs. We personally will do all we possibly can and would appreciate your prayers and any donations to help us make the greatest difference.
You may ask how NTM envisions channeling the funds and donations for relief? Your financial donations will be administered and accounted for by NTM Bolivia Leadership and Finance Office personnel. Where NTM is the most likely channel for the aid, we will endeavor to provide the transportation (mostly by air) to get medical supplies, basic food supplies, clothing, bedding and, if necessary, seeds to replant in these communities. In some cases, there may be a need to help rebuild housing by providing roofing material. Our plan is to channel this help through the indigenous church or through the Bolivian Evangelical Churches in these areas where the flooding is most severe. We desire to see God glorified through His people actively helping the whole community, unbeliever and believer alike. Air transportation for relief efforts will cost $110 per flight hour. Many of these locations are between an hour and 3 hour's flight away. 100% of donations will go to these objectives and mission personnel involved will donate their own time.
This current situation will require basic food and health support for the next 3-12 months until crops are again producing and the people are able to function based on their own economy.
Pray! Above all, PRAY! Disaster always brings people to sense their need of God. Will you pray regularly that the Christians caught up in the middle of these huge trials will walk in love and in a faith dependency on the Lord? Pray that they will choose to reach out to the unsaved and shine the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for the Bolivian Evangelical church - this is a time for ministry for God's glory and for His name's sake.
Pray for the NTM mission family in Bolivia, for wisdom in keeping church planting ministry moving forward even in the middle of these additional challenges. Praise God, He has promised to build His church, and we believe He has chosen this means to help achieve His purposes at this time.
