I've just started a group dedicated to SRL at Yahoo.ca. I hope that everyone joins and that we can participate in some great discussions. It's quick, easy and free to join. So don't hesitate. I look forward to "seeing" you there. (It's lonely being the only member and I know Stephen has tons of fans.)

I appreciate your desire to discuss SRL and so forth, and I'm sorry you've had so much trouble accessing this board. I can't speak for anyone else, but I am quite pleased with this board and will stay. I wish you the best in your group, though.

I agree with DanTheMan. If anyone wants to join that group, I'm sure they could be a part of both, but I feel the forum has more to offer for me than the Yahoo Group.

[glow=red,2,300][/glow] At present the Yahoo.ca group offers very little in the way of interaction, seeing as I am the only member . But you only get out of something what you put into it. I can't help but feel that the more SRL sites there are the better. I want to promote this great writer wherever and whenever I can. Creating a Yahoo group seemed like such a small thing to do but I hope it has great repercussions. The more people who discover SRL, the better. If I had a rooftop, I'd scream his name from it. I have the internet , so that's what I'm using. By all means, stay at this site but don't hesitate to reach out also. See ya soon.

I'm getting VERY discouraged checking the SRL group at Yahoo.ca and finding myself all alone. (Do I smell bad or is it my goofy haircut?) If no one wants to join this other group with me, perhaps you could suggest how I go about promoting it (especially to my fellow Canadians). We're all in this together. The more people we get hooked on SRL the better the chances of his continuing to write stories (which of course benefits us all). Right? ;D

I suppose it's because we all consider this place sufficient. I KNOW I just don't have time (let's say I know I'd better not MAKE time) to add yet another place to my list of things to visit when I'm online. I already tend to neglect my responsibilities more than I ought.
I'm also well aware of the fact that there are many people out there who don't attend this forum and would consider the yahoo group ideal. Perhaps if you ask one of our forum managers they will agree to add the link to the forum somewhere. Also, one of the best ways is to cruise around the internet getting other people to post the link on any site where people who MIGHT be interested in Lawhead could be found.
I'm sure some of us will sign up when we have the time. Yahoo does, after all, have the option of emailing list members when people post, so it wouldn't have to be an obligatory daily visit. I just shouldn't right now, so I won't...unless you don't mind me signing up and not posting.
Eventually, I might choose to make time once the rest of my life is in better order. I do think anything that promotes SRL does a good thing, and the more promotion there is, the better.
For the rest of us who simply don't have time to attend the yahoo group...To help lalara, we might be able to transfer our article-type posts from here to give new members lalara draws in to yahoo something to talk about when they arrive. Nothing is more discouraging than appearing in empty space and being forced to START the discussions. If we at least make it habitable she might be able to build a list among yahoo users who prefer not to visit forums.
Of course, that's only if you don't object to a bunch of non-participant members, lalara. Let me know if you find this idea objectionable and I'll retract the post.
Ok, I'm supposed to be helping the kids with school and doing laundry. Hope this gives everyone a few ideas.

I have to echo karenee's statement. My time online is rather limited so I try to hit as many places as I can in the time that I have. It isn't that people don't like what you're doing. I think the more people we can draw to SRL's work is a great idea.
I will also try to get there when I have some time.

Ditto that... between this place, Terry Brooks, OBOD, Diplomacy Games, Work, Family, writing my story, and the 3 Diplomacy Yahoo Groups I'm already a part of.... My time is kinda limited.

Karenee. Thank's for the suggestions. I found them quite useful. I must agree with you that there is no place better than THIS website for SRL fans, but I was hoping to reach out to the people who need it , not to steal people away from here. I especially would like to get something going for Canadians (we do have our own unique perspective although it is sometimes quite bizarre). The idea about posting on other websites with similiar interests was a good idea. I think I'll look around and see what I can find. I appreciate your response. Thanks again. Any more suggestions anyone? I never say NO to good advice.

One of the reasons this place became the fixture is because it is the site linked from Lawhead's official site. Like everyone else, I already spend way too much time at work online doing non-work related stuff. I don't dare open yet another can of worms. Also, I think there is probably a bit of fear about the repetitiveness that would occur from some of us long standing members. People like me who are long winded and wordy only like to post something once -- I'm not to keen on typing out my 600 word posts multiple times. That said, I certainly understand what you're trying to do. I would concentrate on reaching people who have read Lawhead but maybe aren't "fans" so to speak. Anyone as obsessed about Lawhead as we are would seek out his official website and reader forum (here). So maybe just posting your yahoo site in reviews at amazon.com or other places where people who have read one of his books but haven't sought out his "fan club" would have the opportunity to discuss it in a less fanatical environment. Other than that, don't know what to say. We're glad YOU are here, though!

I cancelled the Yahoo.ca Group dedicated to Stephen Lawhead. After a month of absolutely no interest I gathered that it was just the wrong place and the wrong time. Maybe better luck next time. Thanks to all of you who took the time to read this post and to those who took the time to answer.

Sorry that things didn't work out for you. Perhaps another time will find more interest generated.
If a movie comes into being, I'm sure there will be a big demand for information.
