I don't normally like to send forwards because I get so many every day from loving caring friends. ;D However, this one really caught my eye and when I read the e-mail and watched the video, I was sickened by what I saw. I've responded to the petition and asked that this show not be aired. I pray you will stand with me and send your petition as well. www.afa.net/Petitions/Issuedetail.asp?id=215

We can all voice our outrage about it, but in the end, I think it's just a sign of the times we live in today.

My dad says that God will use these next few years in America to seperate the wheat from the chaff, you know, see which "Chistians" are really His Children, and which ones are just along for the ride because times are good.

It is truly sad that things have come to this. People get outraged because certain groups are portrayed badly and yet when it happens to Christians, people are all...whatever it doesn't matter.

As usual, the major networks are way behind. I've already seen this plastered all over the cable news channels a while ago. I agree I would not like it to be aired any more, but it is not like we're putting the lid on it. It's already well circulated.
You know what our problem is as Christians. We don't blow something up every time our belief is "insulted." Apparently, that is the only way to get the sympathy of the world. Then again, the world is not ours so we shouldn't expect it to do what is in our best interest. I think Christ showed personally that mockery and abuse is the what we should expect when we choose this path.
I'm not saying lay down and let it be, but at the same time we should not be surprised either that it happened or that the world wants to see it. The world killed him once and would gladly do it again if they had the chance. This is the manifestation of that.

Madonna's antics don't bother me. I think this kind of thing becomes an issue only when it is allowed to become an issue. So I don't allow it. Hard to explain in a short little post what I mean.
Slightly OT: online petitions are generally useless anyway. Check snopes.com and do a search for "online petitions." I always, always delete online petitions when I see them in my email inbox.
But, yeah, that's all.

The world killed him once and would gladly do it again if they had the chance. This is the manifestation of that. The Orthodox Church in Russia sponsored a nationwide boycott of Madonna b/c of her antics. But, on dgan's point--you know, the reason people can do things like this (and Madonna's not the only one--Everclear has a new video out that portrays Jesus as a pot-smoking, foul mouthed, ill tempered, womanizer) because Christianity actually is a religion of peace. This is, of course, what separates us from our neighbor religion, Islam; naturally, we're upset and disturbed by the portrayal of Our Lord in such a way...but, we don't start burning down buildings and killing people over it (as our Muslim friends do). We turn the other cheek--they get mud in the eye and so take the head of those who offend them. *Sigh* Religion of peace...right. At any rate...because we don't delcare fatwahs on or start jihads against people who offend our religious sensibilities, we just have to put up with people who will do anything for attention--even to the point of accepting it when people committ sacrelige and blasphemy. Keep in mind, He did say that we would be hated for His name, and that we should rejoice when that happens--because, after all, they hated Him first. Pax vobiscum, din

Way to go Dancer! Never forget that one person can make a difference. I signed the petition that I would have never heard about if you hadn't brought it to my attention. God only asks us to remain faithful in the "little things" and He'll take care of the big picture. I wish I knew more people who cared as much as you.

AFA forces NBC to cancel scene mocking crucifixion of Christ
Dear Kelli,
AFA supporters have won a great victory! The efforts of AFA Online supporters has forced NBC to cancel a scene in the upcoming Madonna special in which she mocks the crucifixion of Christ!
More than 750,000 AFA supporters emailed NBC asking for the scene to be deleted from the special which is scheduled to air in November. NBC saw a potential loss of $25,000,000 and decided to edit out the scene.
We were effective because we stuck together and combined our voices. Our supporters not only emailed NBC, but they also called their local NBC stations. Those stations contacted NBC and the network listened. The scene is gone!
Please help us grow by forwarding this to your friends and family and invite them to become a part of AFA Online. If we who believe in traditional values join together, we can accomplish much. American Family Filter - Protect your children from trash on the Internet. If you think our efforts are worthy, would you please support us with a small gift? Thank you for caring enough to get involved.
Sincerely,
Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman American Family Association
P.S. Please forward this e-mail message to your family and friends!
