I couldn't believe this when I heard. I guess I always figured he would go doing what he loved but not by a ray. A croc or a snake perhaps but never a ray.
I heard earlier that he was swimming and his shadow passed over the ray and the ray reacted in a totally defensive manner and stuck him. He even pulled the barb out before he blacked out and died.
I never got to see many of his episodes but I thought they were enjoyable even if he was a bit nuts.
It's sad to hear that his wife and kids didn't hear about it first though.

They say if you get shot with an arrow, it's best to leave the shaft in until it can be surgically removed. I wonder if he would have lived if he had left the barb in? I guess we'll never know.

I don't think that applies to poisoned arrows, which is what the stingray's barb was. My understanding was that he died from the poison injected directly into his heart...not the wound itself. I could be wrong.

My kids loved his show. They were distraught when they heard. They watch it all the time. I don't like it much, I'm not into crocs and snakes...ewwwwww
I am praying for his family.
