I want to know where Dred got the recipe - was it like a hand-me-down or something?

I want to know where Dred got the recipe - was it like a hand-me-down or something? It was a list he made, the last time he went camping with Shaz. What we're seeing is a culmination of the knowledge and experience gained from that trip.
