Woman swallows phone during fight
BLUE SPRINGS, Mo., Dec. 23 (UPI) -- A Missouri woman who swallowed a cell phone to keep it away from her boyfriend got a trip to the hospital.
Police in Blue Springs say the telephone got stuck in the woman's throat. She and her boyfriend had been having an argument when he demanded the phone.
"She didn't want him to have it, so she swallowed the phone, or at least she tried to," said Police Sgt. Steve Decker told The Kansas City Star.
The police department got a call shortly before 5 a.m. that a woman was not breathing, Decker said. She was taken to the emergency room and is expected to make a complete recovery.

Wonder what would have happened if someone tried ringing and the phone was on vibration alert... now that would have been uncomfortable

Either she had a big mouth or she was not thinking clearly. Getting riled up will do that to you, but I, personally, have never thought of swallowing a phone. Have any of you?

Coincidentally came across this from [green]cree8ivone[/green]'s library yesterday:
"The cell phone rang again and he picked it up. The thing was small enough to swallow if you got hungry enough." - Thr3e by Ted Dekker.
That was the stage-setting phone call for this book, which I now have to read. Hmm. Wonder how much of his stuff I should pay closer attention to?

I read a followup article about this incident which indicates that the police believe the boyfriend may have been the one who shoved it down her throat...
