What is the difference between the Flu and a Cold? Is there such a thing as stomach flu or is it just food poisoning? Any doctors out there?

i'm no doctor, but i do wear a labcoat. Hope this helps: Gastroenteritis, or inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, is an illness of fever, diarrhoea and/or vomiting caused by an infectious virus, bacterium or parasite. It usually is of acute onset, normally lasting less than 10 days and self-limiting. Sometimes it is referred to simply as 'gastro'. It is often referred to as the stomach flu even though it is not related to influenza. If the inflammation is limited to the stomach, the term gastritis is used, and if the small bowel alone is affected it is enteritis.

"Cold" is what you get on weekdays. Then over the weekend you have "flu", which magically transmutes back to "cold" Sunday at bedtime.

A flu is much worse than a cold... at least that's what it seems like to me.
