Well, I live in central Florida and we didn't get the brunt of it (this time). But south Florida got seriously kicked in the butt. Thankfully the storm moved fast and pushed off the state in about 7 hours time.
To think, we've already seen Tropical Storm Alpha and we are SO not done with hurricane season yet! It doesn't officially end until Nov. 30th!
I can hardly believe this season that NOAA has blown through ALL the hurricane names on the list.
I must say, however, that there is a very sublime beauty even to a hurricane, and I say this after living through all 3 last year that hit central Florida. It reminds us humans not to get TOO egotisical about our place on this planet, that Mother Earth and/or God and/or the Gods still have the final say.
I will always love living somewhere close to the shore, storms and all. Our oceans are such a magnificent gift to the life of this planet. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear that Wilma didn't hit you head on. Southern Florida on the other hand weren't as fortunate. Let's hope that this is the last hurricane of the season, but like you said, there is another month left in the season.

Wow, I have never even seen a deadly storm, and you were so close to one. I guess living on the "wet" coast isn't so bad. our weather is very mild.
