I got my first new computer in 6 years!Compliments of my mother-in-law's sale of her California house. She decided to share some of her capital gain with her sons! 
My computer was so bad that I had to leave it running because if it was turned off for more than a minute or two it wouldn't boot up again, and I could only run Win98. The printer gave me like 20 printouts per cartridge! The scanner was OK but showing signs of wear. And the monitor was basically toast.
So, here is what I got: an HP Media Center PC running WinXP (Media Center Edition) on an AMD Athalon 64 chipset. I have 1GB RAM, 200GB hard drive, all kinds of media ports, LightScribe DVD +/-RW, and a CD ROM. My son installed a Radeon Xtasy graphics card to support digital display on my 17" Samsung LCD monitor. I added an HP all-in-one printer/scanner/copier/fax which will hopefully not eat ink at quite the same rate as the old Epson did.
I still need to get a DVI cable for the monitor, so right now it is using VGA display... even so, it is really nice and clear, WAY better than the old monitor. It is so nice to be able to see...
